This was a good Indian restaurant, however I was a bit let down by the flavors as they seemed a bit too overpowering. The vegan... mango lassi was good, but it came in a small glass. The samosa chole was excellent however the chole were a bit undercooked. ThePaneer Tikka Masala was tasty and the sauce was excellent. The Baingan Bharta was a bit too smoky and salty in flavor which madeit almost too bitter to enjoy with naan. The naan was well prepared and the rosemary garlic naan was an interesting new twist onthe usual options. Read more

Best Indian food in Oregon? Yes. Best Vegan food in Portland? Yes. Made with love? Oh yeah, and we love it in return. My... six-year-old already loved this restaurant, and now that he decided to become a vegetarian we make the 22 minute drive forMaruti every week because we love their food too. Read more

This is the most perfect little restaurant. I?ve been going for years and decided it is my favorite restaurant in Portland. The... food is consistently delicious, the servers (including occasionally the owners) are consistently kind and attentive ? it?s justa confluence of all the right things in a place to have a wonderful dinner. It?s a great date night place with warm and romanticambiance, but not too romantic if you know what I mean. It?s popular and small, so you can probably expect a little wait if youdon?t have a reservation (which they only do for parties 6+), but not *too* popular. The tikka masala is definitely the star, and I?ve tried both the fairy and vegan options and they are both delicious. I typically get it with potato, since the otherdish I often get is palak paneer. Spring for the naan, you will need it to mop up the extra tikka masala sauce. And all theappetizers are also amazing, I almost always get the onion potato pakora and rotate our the others. Yum. Thank you Maruti forbeing fabulous! Read more

The staff was nice, the palak paneer good, vegan garlic naan okay, and khichadi not good. The staff rushed my order even though... I showed up early. The naan was flat and lacking flavor. The khichadi was just not my preference. Read more

Best, most favorite Indian cuisine in Portland. The Tikka Masala with paneer is AMAZING. How they get the springy, spongie,... chewy texture of the paneer?? Miracles. The creaminess and perfectly seasoned Tikka gravy has made us crazy repeat customers. The garbanzos? the spinach, perfect naan? this is my new favorite restaurant! Read more

So to be clear it?s not a typical Indian restaurant - is Indian with a twist. The restaurant has organic and local ingredients... and offers vegan and vegetarian dishes only (GF options as well). The food was tasty, flavorful and fresh. None of the dishesthat I sampled were spicy like I?d get at other authentic Indian places if that?s what you want. I would recommend the eggplantdish (Banghan Barta), the spinach and potato dish (Aloo palaak), the appetizers were ALL flavourful, I really liked the (SamosaChloe). The spring salad (Mung Sprout) was fresh and yummy (obviously a fusion type dish). The atmosphere is very nice and Iwill be coming back for some fresh healthy food. Read more
