Reviews for Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine in Portland, OR
Just excellent. Really tasted like the home cooked meals I remember having growing up. Flavorful from the first bite to the... last. Meat practically melted off the bones, very generous portions. I look forward to visiting the next time I am in Portland. Read more
My normal location was closed. So I stumbled on this location. Let me just say words can't describe how delicious their oxtails... we're. I also loved the pineapple Jamaican drink as well. The food was so good I didn't get to take photos. But if you want somegreat JERK food please don't sleep on this location. All the food was piping hot as well. I can't wait to get back down toPortland for them Oxtails. Read more
Food was good overall, good price and great portions. The jerk chicken was a bit charred but everything had a great flavor.
If you have never come you are missing out! This place was recommended by my kid who loves the food so much he comes every week.... The owner made ya feel welcome, laughed with us and fed us like Kings! The food is killer, music is bomb and the service is offthe charts! We will be back and worth the drive. Read more

The restaurant lives up to its namesake. It feels like home style Jamaican cuisine. From the decor, to the family staff, it... didn't feel like a Portland siburb inside. I wanted to love this place but we did run into some issues. We ordered the spicybeef patty, ox tail meals and jerk chicken meals. The flavors and seasoning felt like home, but the chicken on all our mealswere too dry and seemed like was made with older chicken. That was a shame. The oxtail meal was very flavourful, and I wouldsuggest always ordering it with extra gravy, as it mixes very well with the spiced rice. The oxtail was not as tender as someother places but it's not a deal breaker. The spicy beef patty were flaky and warm, but I'm not sure if i could justify the 5dollar per patty price to buy again. I want to believe that perhaps our meals were a one off, but we ended up with chicken whichwas too dry to be enjoyable. If fresh, I would give this place a solid 4 to 5 stars. And because I want there to be moreCaribbean places, and I believe it was a one off, I would recommend you try it once and see. The flavors were legit. Read more
