Reviews for Hostel Cafe in Portland, OR
Very clean eating and dinning area! This was my first time here, I was introduced to the Chagachino, a mushroom and cacao drink,... so delicious, it was perfect! Staff was great, clean tables, easy to find and friendly place to hang out and drink coffee withfriends! Highly recommend! Read more
Came here and ordered French toast it was burnt charred like barbecue and absolutely hard as a rock dry no matter how much syrup... you soaked it in. Asked for scrambled eggs and got a folded over also browned chard omelette looking thing. Veggie hash wasordered with eggs completely forgot about the eggs although I was charged and the condescending waitress decided to argue thepoint that it didn't come with eggs. Even after clarifying that eggs were added she still went on her rant that they were notincluded. I have no clue how this place got 4.5 Stars someone is out of their mind if they think this is good cuisine. My adviceis steer as far away from this dump as possible. Portland has very good restaurants to choose from other than here sorry guysepic fail for a $60 breakfast Read more
The food is excellent. The best thing I had was the veggie burger.
You know why this place is awesome? It's not a 5 star restaurant - but it's tasty and very reasonable. Choices are simple but... good. But its open from 7am to 11pm every day. They always have coffee & you can switch to beer when you're ready. Great outdoorarea. You can hang out as long as you want without getting hassled. People all over the world are coming through so you can meetdifferent people everyday. It's really the best cafe in Portland. Read more
Loved the honey rose latte. The salmon burger was ok--wish it would have had more spices. Pretty chill place. They have... indoor and outdoor seating. The hostel next door sells great postcards. Read more
Stopped in for a late afternoon lunch, and ordered a burger in a lettuce wrap and the garlic fries, and it was pretty good. The... sauce on the burger was like a Russian or Thousand Island Dressing, so no need for ketchup. The fries could have been cooked asmidge longer for my taste, as I like it when they're crispy on the outside. The environment has lots of natural light, whichfeels spacious and airy and the music wasn't too loud. They have something called a Chaga Latte on the coffee menu, which Ifound intriguing. It's rare to find a latte drink that is sweetened with monk fruit and has immune-boosting properties. I willreturn earlier in the day to try that. Read more
I forgot what we ordered but this place seemed a lot less busy than I would think. The food was top notch. It's a quaint quite... little coffee shop decorated elegantly. It was so calm and relaxing inside. Seemed like everyone was happy. The rainy daysuddenly seemed sunny from inside. We got coffee at another place but ordered food. I got a breakfast burger and my wife got abreakfast bowl with sweet and reg potatoes. Very filling and nice presentation. We'd eat here again. But not for a while becausewe have more places to try! Not many places have breakfast burgers so I was happy to get one before the Japanese garden. We were10 mins away by car at this Cafe. Part of the reason we chose it! Read more
Quiet spot for weekday breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was yummy and cost $10. The seasonal hot apple cider was $4.50 and... delicious. The barista asked if I liked my hot chocolate on the sweet side or the none sweet side. I?ve never been asked thatquestion but I really appreciated it! It?s clear from the taste that the drinks here are made with intentionality. A side ofroasted potatoes was $4. The place is kind of small but very clean and the staff are very helpful and kind. It?s not really asit and stay forever kind of place although there were some people working there and using the space like a coffee shop. Mostpeople came and went only staying 15 min or so. Great option if you?re in the area! Read more
