Second time coming to this wonderful gem. And I will be back again and again and again. Place is spectacular! I usually get the... Hat Yai Combo. What you get is 3 pieces of fried chicken, sticky rice (which is my favorite), a pan fried flat bread, and awonderful curry dip. All this pairs so well together. You get a very flavor dipping sauce to! (I usually ask for extra, bigsauce person). Overall this place is awesome! Staff is great and food is too notch! If you near one take the time and stop onin! This restaurant has always treated us well, in either location. It’s often the last restaurant open when we can’t land on... other options fast enough and the Thai fried chicken is just unmatched in PDX. We’ve tried the entire menu and can confirmthat their specials are quite special. On our last trip, the specials consisted of an egg-wrapped pad thai, asparagus, and amussel soup. We ordered all of them. Then, we ordered roti and curry and several other soups and sides. Hat Yai sits in my PDXTop Hits list and will remain there. Read more

I had the oxtail soup & chicken skewers. Both had an explosion of flavor. Chill setting with an excellent staff. Will make this... a stop everytime I visit Portland. The turmeric mule is also very satisfying. Read more

Don’t overthink it — get the fried chicken. This was the best meal I have ever had in my entire life. The myriad of flavors... rocked my socks. I am not from Portland, but I will be making a yearly trip (at the least) to experience Southern Thai cuisine.Cannot recommend this place enough. Read more

Points for juicy, flavorful, fried chicken…and friendly staff. Beef cheek was tender, BUT the curry that it comes in, is... wayyyyy too salty (catered to the American palate), thai ice tea was wayyyy too sweet despite asking for a lower sugar level, food was slow despite no crowd, roti was wayyy too doughy, AND sticky rice was STALE AND HARD. Came due to ppl’srecommendations, but prob won’t come back again cos plenty of delicious fried chicken in the world WITH other sides and dishesthat are great. This isn’t Asian, it’s more Americanized Asian. Read more

Straight fire. The wine bar next door lets you eat with a larger group on the patio if your party gets your drinks there. So... nice. Combo plate with extra roti, brisket, and pork belly were our highlights. SO GOOD. Read more

Delicious fried chicken - it is flavorful and satisfying but doesn't feel greasy. I also had a pad thai in an omelette, very... interesting idea and came out tasty as well. My friends have only good words for the beef soup they got, meat is tender and soupis rich. They have a patio area on the side street (not directly in front of the restaurant) and the set up works pretty well.We had a great dinner here. Read more
