As a long time fan of this establishment going back to their days at the old location, sad to say I had a terrible interaction... with the service. Came to the door 20 minutes before open to inquire about the walk-in policy, waved toward and made eyecontact with the hostess, and was ignored. After waiting and trying to get their attention for five minutes, my partner and Igave up and left. Called in to ask, and the question was promptly answered. The hostess suggested that no one saw us, which issadly false. I can understand if they can't come to the door and are just following rules... that is fine, they can just saythat. But to be ignored like that is unacceptable at such a high-end establishment. I've experienced better at Miyake, and hopeit returns to standard in the future. Read more

Very delicious and fresh seafood! You can't go wrong in Portland with seafood but we had some fantastic sushi and various other... yummy dishes at Miyake. The 4 course Omakasa was a great way to get a variety of dishes! Read more

Everything was perfect. We had a few nigiri to start (oro tuna, uni and foie gras), then the lunch special consisting of Miso... soup (or salad) and between me and my wife we ordered the crispy swordfish belly and truffled tuna tartare to start, and forentrée we both had the lobster, scallop and crab hamayaki. Miyake is a very popular and hyped Portland Japanese restaurant that is supposed to be very difficult to get in to at times. We... had no problem getting a 730pm reservation for two at the sushi bar for Sunday night booked one day out. All of the hot dishesin our 4 course meal were delicious. The lobster, crab & scallop and the fried oyster & braised pork belly dishes werehighlights of the night. It was fun to watch hot dishes being prepared while sitting at the bar in their combined sushi bar /open kitchen. When placing our order with the waitress we told her that we will definitely be interested in adding on somesushi after we are done with the 4 course meal. Unfortunately, we didn't realize nor were we notified that the restaurant closesat 830pm on Sundays. Initially our meal was paced as one would expect at such a restaurant, not hurried giving you enough timeto enjoy your dishes while being able to talk and watch chefs work. Our last course was served right at 830pm on the dot andimmediately as the plates were brought out we saw the staff begin the cleanup and breakdown of equipment. We asked one of thechefs if they were closing as we were planning to order additional items (sushi). We were told not to worry that we can stillplace our order. However, this is where the atmosphere quickly turned as we watched the staff rapidly clean up, some (includingthe head chef) changed into street clothes and headed out. We didn't feel like we were being rushed directly but indirectly itfelt like we were no longer welcome. The best I can describe the feeling as if one was to walk into a fast food restaurant 5minutes before they are set to close and place an order for something that has to be prepared using equipment and ingredientsthat were already put away for the night, awkward and uncomfortable. Taste wise our sushi was a big disappointment. Lobstersashimi was good, scallop and tuna nigiri were good as well. Sweet shrimp wasn't sweet. Ikura plain ole bad. T Read more

What an absolute great experience this trip has been! The food was upscale, decadent, and full of mouthwatering deliciousness!... The variety of the dishes were unexpected, well thought out, and exceptional. We got the chance to sit at the bar area, besidethe chefs preparing the dishes. It was equivalent to dinner and a show. I feel spoiled and fear no other place can or willcompare...guess I just need to go again to treat myself! Until I come back....wait for me!! Read more
