This was a great find. I was exploring the west-end of Portland around the Cemetery and came across Chaval. I sat at the bar... inside. The bartenders were super fun to talk to about the area and made some really innovative drinks. The food! The ibericoappetizer and the venison entrée were great. I would recommend this place to anyone going to Portland. Read more

What a neighborhood gem! Every dish here is creative and tasty. You don?t find venison on many dishes and it was delicious. ... Great spot for friends, date night or showing out of towners something different. Read more

A neighborhood brasserie in Portland's West End, with a changing Spanish and French inspired menu. Warm atmosphere. Very good... food and cocktails. We had the deviled eggs and gazpacho, both delectable, and shared plates of fresh local fish and steak, alsoexcellent. The presentation was artful. And we left feeling very content but not too full. A wonderful dining experience. Read more

Outstanding meal. We enjoyed every dish. Turnips cured in salt were a refreshing start to the meal. Spring onions in... Romanesco sauce with a touch of smoked bacon were delicious. Carrot tartare adding a rich savory dip to pile high on sourdoughbread. Runner beans thick and meaty with a rich salty home made xo sauce. We finished off the meal with the grilled bluefish. From the outstanding cocktail menu I ordered the Neptune which paired will with final few dishes. Already looking forward to mynext visit. Read more
