A lovely hole in the wall restaurant. When we walked in I knew it would be amazing. I had been craving some spice recently and... this definitely delivers. We sat at the counter since that was the only place available. I got the El huevos rancheros omeletand was blown away by the flavor. Definitely get the jalapeno cheese cornbread because it's incredibly well made. The staff issuper nice. A greatful dead fan is a friend to me and half of the staff was wearing something greatful dead. The atmosphere wasalso top notch. They really captured the color and feel of Louisiana and had great music on the sound system. Can't recommendenough Read more

AMAZING. Not much more to say than that. I love me some food from the Louisiana world and this place other than a couple spots... in New Orleans that I've eaten at was the best I've had. Go here, if you don't.. Your loss. The cajun sausage biscuits and gravyspecial is a must try! Read more

The Verde chilli omelette was very tasty. I think this dish is my new favorite breakfast dish in Portland. I highly recommend... the rice and beans as a side. I know you will be tempted for some potatoes, (which I'm sure are good) but go against your grain. The rice and beans are flavorful and complement this omelette perfectly. Also, the staff was great. can't wait to return! Read more

We discovered Bayou Kitchen when searching for brunch spots in the Portland area. All the reviews we read were positive and we... couldn't agree more. The smells are incredible, even before you get through the front door. The staff is friendly and laid back, even though it was incredibly busy. The food is very good and definitely has a southern flair to it. Judging by the crowd, thisis a popular place, and with good reason. If you are in the Portland, Maine area, definitely give Bayou Kitchen a try!! Read more

Great food and awesome service! The wait staff apologized profusely for our wait which we didn't mind. Exceptional service and... the coffee was always full! The Coffee flavored pancakes were incredible! The Huevos rancheros was very good and so was theOmelette. The corn bread was good, but I had better ones. Overall, reasonable price, good food, and great service. I willdefinitely come back again. Read more

The omlettes and scrambles are amazing. Great flavor choices and we were very pleased. The homemade cornbread was also a... winner! Constructive Feedback: Cooking grits requires "southern love" aka: butter and seasoning! I was really looking forwardto grits, but without any salt/pepper/seasoning or butter it's just not something I'd order again. Read more

The best breakfast I?ve had, anywhere. I?ve been coming to this place for about 15 years, and they?ve still got it. I?ve never... had a bad meal, and the staff is awesome. My girlfriend and I got all the food pictured (2 massive breakfasts) for a little over$18. You would be missing out if you didn?t stop here while in Portland. Read more
