My BLT was missing the bread.... Just one layer of bread with bacon/tomatoes on top. Wouldn't trust the food here.

I won't get a sub here again. Ordered the chicken finger sub and the bread basically disintegrated before I opened it up- I live... 3 blocks away. I don't have any idea how this bread is supposed to hold together a parmesan sandwich, that must be a disaster, but as soon as I picked up this sub it all fell out and apart. Guess I'm eating with a fork. Not a sandwich. Read more

There really is nothing like a real italian, and if youre unlucky enough to have lived in Maine, when Amatos is always a good... convenient choice, and then, only visiting? I miss the iconic italian. Dont be shy with the salt pepper and oil! Read more

First off I love Amato's. I did not have a good experience at this one. I ordered a regular ham Italian, asked for extra onions... (didn't get). Usually Amato's tomatoes are bright red and delicious. Tomatoes on my sandwich were yellowish. The roll seemedfairly fresh. I no longer live in Portland but, used to frequent Amato's on India St. Never disappointed at that location. Also, staff not real friendly except the girl that rang up my order. Disappointed. Read more

Ordered pizza and whoppie pies for dinner. From out of town and ordered through doordash. They were super busy but my pizza... still arrived warm and was delicious. Right amount of crust to toppings ratio. Super filling. Enjoyed trying my first whoppiepie ever and let me tell you it was delicious! Would love to have found them sooner so I could have gotten another one beforeheading back home. Can't wait to come back to get another. Read more

Amato?s is the home to the original Maine Italian sandwich, from which all others Italians are based on. This is half of a... small sandwich: American cheese, ham, onion, green pepper, pickle, tomato, olives, salt pepper and oil. I always order it withextra ham and olives. Absolutely delicious. Even though it is a cold sandwich, I let it rest for about 10 minutes to ensurethe oil seeps everywhere before enjoying it with Humpty Dumpty BBQ chips and a Diet Coke; surprisingly, Amato?s does not sellPepsi products. Amato?s makes their sandwiches fresh, to order. Rarely do they get it wrong. If you?re traveling through orvisiting the Portland area, make sure you try Amato?s. Read more
