I tried to be objective, I have worked in the food industry on and off my whole life as a server. Unfortunately they were very... understaffed. Two people is not enough. My server was neither rude nor friendly. I ordered six fried shrimp. It was verydried out and they need to change their grease. It's wrecking their food. The place needs to put their heart back in it. Thisis a tough industry and you need repeat business. However, Scullys was the best fresh shrimp I ever ate. I had it preparedfour different ways. Didn't know anything about this place. We just rolled in from WAY out of town for Labor Day and was in the mood for Seafood. We... saw this place from the road and the reviews didn't seem very promising HOWEVER, my families experience here was pretty good!The food was good and reasonably priced. Our server was really nice and extremely helpful. If we lived in this town, this woulddefinitely be one of our monthly, if not weekly stops for seafood. Read more
Okay, so there are a few things I want to say about this place. One, the food is good. Let's get that straight right now.... There's absolutely nothing wrong with the food. That's why the overall review for this place is four stars. That being said, thelast time we visited, we didn't have as great of an experience as we usually do (absolutely nothing to do with the food). Theyoung gal that waited on our table was pretty much non-existent. She came to take drink and food orders, and that was about it.Many people at our table ordered a Diet Coke. When they arrived at the table, they were flat. The Diet Cokes had zerocarbonation. When we asked about that, her response was something like, "I don't control that." She may not control thatdirectly as the waitress, but the restaurant absolutely does. We sent the drinks back and got tea. I don't want to misleadpeople with this review, but I also don't want to give the owners the idea that everything was perfect. There are a few minorthings that need work. 1st and last time eating here. The food was straight garbage. The salad was more like burger toppings. Ordered the Fish,... scallops, oyster and shrimp plate for $22.99. BTW on the check they charged $2.00 extra because what I ordered had Oysters. (?)So they tried to charge $24.99. (?) My wife ordered the stuff flounder and got flounder - not stuffed. Also ordered a crab cakeon the side. It looked like they battered a frozen crab cake and deep fried the whole thing. Didn't eat it. Oysters were fishyand not edible as well. When we told the waitress the Oysters were bad, she didn't look surprised at all. The funny thing iswhile paying the bill I asked who is the owner? The lady said and I quote....'You ask that last time you here'....this was the1st time me and my wife have ever been to Port Lavaca much less to this restaurant. Then she proceeded to tell me that I lookedlike the guy who said it. Maybe concentrate on the customers feedback and not what you think they look like. Being so close tothe ocean you'd think the food would be better. Take your chance here if you want, after reading the reviews like we did. All Ican say is we won't come back. Good luck. Read more
