Stopped there last week for the first time and I was blown away with the quality of the food. Tried the Jerk Chicken - was very... tasty, hot and great size portion, plus the beef Pattie was also an excellent treat. Went back this week and Steve suggested theOxtails and they were also delicious. Next time I will try the Jerk Pork. Great food right under our noses here on Rt 112 byHallock Rd. Steve is a nice guy who answers questions, makes suggestions and gives you time... plus he has proven to me to be agreat chef. Thank you... look forward to making this a regular place to visit. Always saw this small spot on my way to work. And today I finally decided to go for it. 11 out of ten! Hands down best local... Jamaican food in port Jefferson. Kept it simple and got there medium jerk chicken11/10 with rice and peas 9/10. Delicious Macand cheese 9/10. And there sweet plantains 10/10. Each one of these where a very generous portion. Service was fast and easy. iused the drive through. I was served in less than 5 mins. Absolutely great experience. And will highly recommend you to trythem! It's the best Jerk Chicken ( probably the best chicken period ) on Long Island. ,Grilled and smoked outside on the premises... fresh daily - the aroma is irresistible and taste as good as it smells. If you don't get some you are definitely gonna miss out.You will not regret it. Also has a drive through with quick service and a walk up window. Read more
While I don't claim to be an expert on Caribbean food, I really enjoyed the take out from this restaurant. I ordered a large... jerk chicken dinner and a large oxtail dinner. The size of each large dinner was easily enough for two people. The flavorswere great and I particularly enjoyed the accompaniments of peas and rice, cabbage, and plantains. Truly enjoyed this diamond in the rough. I would have never known about this place unless I went to a neighboring establishment.... They have a makeshift drive thru and a great menu. We ordered the Jerk Chicken, Stew Chicken, and Oxtail meals. They all camewith rice and peas, sauteed cabbage, and plantains. All the food tasted delicious. I think my favorite was the Jerk Chickenmainly because you can taste that it was charcoal-grilled. The flavor was fantastic. The only thing that I would have liked ismore gravy for the rice, but I won't gig them for that. I highly recommend this place. Read more
Excellent! Had the medium jerk chicken, a Curry chicken patty, and the medium oxtail. Plantains are on point and the food is... definitely authentic. So hard to find good Caribbean food on Long Island and THIS place has it !!! Be back next week! Do NOTlisten to these people that give bad reviews . Drive thru service with GREAT tasting food. My hubs and I had meat pies, jerk pork and oxtail with rice and beans and cabbage.... My daughter had the oxtail too. We were all very happy. We felt like we were back on a Caribbean vacation. Very authentic. Wewill definitely return. I have been back another 4 or 5 times. I have brought my daughter too. The food is just so good. Food quality is inconsistent and the prices are too high for what you get. The rice isn't the greatest quality. It's more of a... shack then a "restaurant" where you order from a window. If you peek inside; most of the refrigeration units look 2nd to 3rdhand. They're better off making a Jerk chicken truck like they have in Queens; then paying for taxes in this beat up spot. Read more
