Reviews for Shell’s in Port Aransas, TX
Waited 35 mins after we sat down without getting so much as something to drink. They were very short staffed and started taking... orders from people who walked in after us. Prices were very high anyway so I guess we didn't really miss out Used to be myhusbands favorite place and he was so excited to get to come back but he ended up walking out highly disappointed. Good food, great variety of pasta. The ambience leaves a bit to be desired compared to other restaurants in Port Aransas, but... definitely a strong choice for a good lunch! Read more
Shell's has the best food and the least pretentious atmosphere we've ever experienced in Port Aransis. Their menu is not the... standard menu of most places either. Think high end style chef creations at reasonable prices in your favorite small cafe. I hadthe Seared Mahi Mahi w/ key lime aoli and mixed veggies (& not the soggy squash and zucchini offered everywhere else we ate)that was fresh and divine! We will eat at Shell's everytime we visit Port Aransis. Read more
Shells is a small place on a busy corner, we knew they'd be busy on a Friday night so we went early, and were seated... immediately. We tried the ceviche and lobster salad on toasted crostini as appetizers, both were just OK. For entrees, we hadthe seared Mahi Mahi and the sauteed Grouper, both were very good. We selected a decent pinot grigio for dinner, which was goodand reasonable priced. The staff at Shells was an odd mixture of people, none of whom seemed to really care whether or not thediners had a good experience. From the hostess to our waitress, there was a very palpable air of disinterestedness. Perhapsit's a training issue, it was hard to tell. We don't need to go back, there are too many top-notch seafood places in Port A tospend an evening at a restaurant that is average at best. Read more
This is my childhood favorite place to eat on the island. This family run restaurant may be of the best kept secrets in all of... Texas dining. Fresh and Professional are the first 2 words that come to mind. The food is prepared, plated and presentedbeautifully. Their menu is a thoughtful expression of the Texas coastal fare with delicious steaks for a more traditionaldinner. The open face tuna sandwich is a must have, and their homemade sauces and bread really make the meal. The peach sangriahad mango in it, so be careful if you have allergies as my wife found out. The seared Mahi Mahi, with lime aioli sauce andsteamed vegetables was very tasty. A bit over steamed on the vegetables, but the addition of jicama to the medley was nice. Thesauce was as good as it gets and brought the entire dish together. If you are ever in Port Aransas, Shells is a must visit.Fresh, thoughtful, and wonderfully food prepared consistently for well over 20 years that I've been eating there. **they alsoserve some of the best Sushi.** Read more
We never knew this place existed! I'm so glad we found it. Did not wait long to be seated and the server was so amazing and... attentive. My son even dropped some of his canned soda and the waitress brought him a new one super fast. Everything looked sogood we couldn't decide what to get but what we did get was delicious. Everyone was very satisfied with our meals. Definitelyrecommended if your looking for a seafood/pasta/with a tiny bit of Asian flair. Read more
Very small restaurant inside. Great service! Outside patio area. Large variety of items to choose from. They have a different... mix of food, Asian, seafood and Italian. Not a big selection of fried dishes. The flounder was really tasty. Mango Cervce isgood but a bit on the sweet side. Pricey - come prepared. Pricey kids meals. $9.00 for Fettuccine Alfredo. I guess they arestill recovery from the hurricane... all in all I?d go back. Read more
