While passing through Port Allen, my wife and I stopped in for an early supper; around 5pm. We ordered the Crawfish queso served... with pork skins for an appetizer and the French Dip poboy and Crabcake sandwich for entrees. The service was great and the foodwas delicious! I looked this place and was so excited to visit. A total mistake. I only asked for soft eggs, three times they came out hard. I... asked to speak to manager. Worse manager she was rude and began to complain 9 eggs when it was in fact 6. She then becamesarcastic and accused me of having a bad day. Whats wrong with people? Worse experience I have EVER had. If they can't cook softeggs, just say so. UPDATE: Received a response which explains the service and breakfast. Regarding the cook. Apparently hiscredentials are not that great since he couldn't prepare soft scramble eggs. I'm from Philadelphia and it's not an unusualrequest. The burger took 30mins to cook and prep...to go! It may have been a delicious burger, but *all* of the staff at the front we're... complaining in front of me about something that happened in the kitchen. Whatever may have happened, I didn't need to hearabout it and also in front of all the customers at the front counter. Relaxed friendly atmosphere with good service and comfort food. I had the grilled cheese and gumbo with a side of sweet potato... fries, it ended up being more food than I could eat! I guess everyone's idea of a dinner sized meal varies a bit :). It justmeans I'll have gumbo and some fries for lunch tomorrow. Very crowded during my visit and everyone seemed happy and welcoming. I really love this cafe.. been here couple times since we been on this side of river and like to say it?s one of my favorites.... Nice atmosphere, sweet staff and the food is amazing. That down home louisiana taste you know. Try the Catfish Acadian. It?snot only amazing but beautiful! Read more
