We had a comedy show to hit up in Putnam two weekends ago and decided to come here for dinner. My spinach and goat cheese... gnocchi was pretty good. Unfortunately, something was burnt in the kitchen upon our arrival, and the smell lingered the entiretime we were there. My partner felt his shrimp dish was burnt, but the smell could have contributed to the distorted taste. Read more
Very quaint location at night. Made reservations for two. Unfortunately we were seated in a side room with poor lighting (no... overhead lights) and just a single candle on our table. This made reading our menus difficult. Our table was over floor ventsblasting AC, in November. The main floor and bar area was well lit and comfortable. I ordered 3 Blue Tip oysters that were smalland not worth 3 dollars a pop. I ordered filet mignon that was very good but not 40 dollars a plate good. The prime rib was amazing! It was cooked to perfection: we ordered 2 medium rare and one medium, and they were cooked to exactly... that. The server was friendly and prompt, and the food arrived fairly quickly. The pumpkin martini was fabulous and also verystrong (your opinion on whether that's good or bad may vary - it was wonderful for me!) The atmosphere was great, though myhusband was annoyed that even though we were there when they opened and they were nearly empty, we were seated in the far backcorner near the exit. I figured they had some logistics reason that was not meant as a slight. All in all, I told my husband ifI had my way, we would be back weekly! It was $150 for 3 rib dinners, an app, one martini and 2 sodas, though, so we may have tospace out our visits a bit more than that. Regardless, I will definitely go back for more of that prime rib! I had a cucumber Ginger martini which was absolutely delicious. The food and the dessert were fantastic. Our waitress who had... only been on the job 2 days was wonderful. The restaurant opens at 4 we got there just before 430 with plenty of availabletables,and the hostess asked us if we had reservations and seemed perturbed that we did not. It felt like she was not going tolet us die there but a woman who I am assuming may be the owner came by and said that there was a table available for the 2 ofus. The hostess then told us that they had another reservation for the table at 6:30 and we needed to be out of there by 6:30.I found it hard to believe that it would take them that long to serve us since as I said the place was not that busy at thattime.
