If you are looking for authentic Japanese cuisine that highlights the best, pure ingredients (locally grown with love), go to... Izakaya Gama. If you are looking for tourist sushi, you WILL be disappointed. The flavors are delicate and intricate and everyproduct used is top-notch. The price is higher but completely worth it and based on a high-quality standard. You will noticethat even the soy sauce is of super high quality. Every dish has intended precision if you cherish fresh, superior ingredientsand flavors. Read more

Best Japanese food I?ve had in a very long time! This little restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We?ve been traveling down... Highway one. The sightseeing has been great but the food was Soso until now. My wife and I really enjoyed the halibut and troutSushimi. The miso soup was really tasty! We had several things on the menu but honestly the star of the show was the rice!!!! Idon?t know what they did but that is the best rice I?ve ever had! We will come back again and I think you should too! Read more

I have been lucky enought to eat here a few times now and it is my favorite dining experience in the area. Ingredients are... sourced locally and everything is incredibly fresh. All of the plates are perfect for sharing (which means you get to try more)and very delicious. As others have said, the karaage is addicting and should not be missed. There is also an excellent selectionof sake and Japanese beer and the staff will provide a great recommendation if you're not sure what to choose. Read more

Gorgeous space, wonderful service and excellent food. I dined here multiple times while staying in Point Arena, and it was... truly an exceptional experience. The space is warm and inviting, and the live edge wood bar and tables are gorgeous. You canmake a reservation for the dining room, but they keep the bar available for walk-ins. The service was attentive and efficient, especially from co-owner Elyse, whose passion and knowledge made the experience. The beer and sake menu is impressive andwell-curated, I enjoyed all of the selections recommended to me. They also have several local wines on the menu for those thatprefer it. The menu rotates seasonally based on availability from local farms and purveyors, and everything was fresh andperfectly seasoned. All the dishes are shareable small plates, and the portions are perfect if dining alone or for ordering toshare with a group. My favorites were the ?addictive? cabbage (it really was!) and the karaage fried chicken (it?s not to bemissed!). If you?re in the area, Gama is a must try! Read more

What a pleasant surprise. I found this place on our way to Mendocino. I love how their salads are full of colors and flavors.... Also we tried their duck skewers and it was quite delicious. Chicken Karaage was amazingly good with their kewpie sauce. Not tomention their service, which was excellent. They gave us warm handtowels before getting us the food and gave us recommendationson their menu. Highly recommend making a reservation before coming here since they are quite popular. Read more

My party of three came here on a Wednesday evening around 5. We did not have a reservation but we were put of waitlist and were... seated in about 40 mins. Definitely make a reservation in advance if you can! Our server was Elyse and she was wonderful :) Shegave us great suggestions! We got the rice lager and ?kid? sake to start. So tasty! We tried quite a few things from the foodmenu and enjoyed each item. Our favorites were the temarizushi, karaage, and duck breast. We can?t wait to come back. Theservice was warm, friendly, and amazing. Thank you for an experience we will always remember. Read more

We had dinner at Gama last night and what a treat! The restaurant itself is beautifully appointed - the space is warm, with lots... of wooden accents. The restaurant is small - so make sure to make a reservation! We were there on a Sunday evening, and it wasbusy. The menu is concise, but includes options for all tastes. ...this isn't just for sushi and seafood lovers. We ordered 4menu items for 2 people - all of which were beautifully presented and really delicious. Given our success with selecting ourmenu items, we'll definitely be more adventurous next time. In addition, the service was excellent and the vibe was friendly andoutgoing. My mouth is watering when I write this - can't wait to return! Read more
