My husband always gets the Boss Hog but I have tried MANY items and bounce around on what I order each time. Everything is... great. I never had the pleasure of eating their food until they moved to the True Value/Nuts & Bolts location. I haven't triedtheir coffees yet. Read more

1st time visiting. Ordered 2 mushroom & swiss burgers that were burnt, 1 Reuben that was soggy, fried pickles that were... seriously over fried, the french fries were ok but could use less salt! Will not visit again as we were looking forward totrying & were highly disappointed! Couldn?t even finish the burgers they were so overcooked. Read more

Update: new owners apparently do not like when their reviews are bad. I didn?t want anything else to ?make it right?. If the... food I received is their standards it was pitiful! The last owners didn?t make ?specials with cheap fish from the frozensection at the grocery store. They made fresh food and it was really good. I leave this as lesson learned, out over $30 for adinner that went in the trash! Well we figured we would try it out. First of all the ?special? was a fish po boy sandwich. Iasked what come on the sandwich and what it comes with. Was told sandwich has tarter sauce, coleslaw, and fish. Then yourchoice of side of Mac and cheese or coleslaw. I get the receipt and they charged me over $42 for 3 sandwiches @ 9.99 a pieceand 3 sides @3.50 a piece. I asked because they had told me the sides came with the special. They refunded the sides and Iwaited for the food. Got home and the fish was the frozen fish from the freezer section at the grocery store. Coleslaw washorrible, and only half portion for a side. Mac and cheese was disgusting with a date on the container 2 days prior to myvisit! We have them a chance but I would save your money. Very let down because the previous owners at least had good food forthe wait! Read more

Update (August 2021) Visited again today and found that the food, "very good" on my 1st visit, was even better. Had the... Southwest Burger (pepper jack cheese burger topped with an onion ring) with fries and both were great. Great. I don't know thatthere's a better burger to be had in the Greater Kansas City Area ... which is to say Planet Earth. The dining room was closedtoday, drive- thru only (with seating available at outdoor picnic tables), so pandemic protocols were a mootpoint. ----- Original Review (October 2020) So, of course, the most important thing about a restaurant (or diner) is the food;and this place serves very good food. Certainly, I enjoyed my Blues Burger (blue cheese crumbles on a generous portion ofburger) with fries (spiced and cooked to a perfect crispness on the outside while staying soft and potato-ie inside) followed bya slice of (home-made!) blueberry pie (with a crust my mom would have been proud to serve (you could see the finger-pinched joinof top crust to side crust!)). Blue cheese and blueberries. Does life really get any better than that? But I couldn't get mymind off how very adorable this place is. (Sigh.) It just exudes "small town" ... and in the nicest way possible. As in, "smalltown" but still "new." It didn't feel nostalgic, like the sad survivor of a bygone era or some replica of an imagined past. Itfelt real and fresh, with a genuine nice-ness brought to life by its staff (though I gotta say, I wish they'd wear masks). DaddyOh's opened just three weeks before the pandemic lock-down and other protocols began, according to the nice lady at the cashregister. "Thank god for the drive-thru window," she said. The tiny dining room is open now. And there are picnic tables underumbrellas out back (just as "adorbs" as the indoor dining) and the diner's restroom is accessible from the outside through thedoor on the northwest corner. Read more

Was really excited to try the new place. Because we love to support local business over cooperate chains. But was hit with an... overwhelming disappointment. We ordered 2 kids meals at $7 a piece to be told to get fries instead of a bag of lays would benearly a 2$ up charge on each meal, so $9 for fries and 2 "large" strips, drinks not included! $1.50 a piece on top of the $9meal. First of all I should have known better when it said 2 large chicken strips they would be dinky strips out of a bag andnot in fact homemade. French fries were good servings for kids. Now looking to my $10 spicy chicken sandwich that I requestedfried when given a choice. 2 chicken strips to a a bun with barely a slice of cheese. My meal basically the equivalent of mykids was 10$ and the kids had more fries on their plates. This family paid 36.71$ to have walmart chicken strips and pieces offries thrown to the plate. My kids and I left hungry. If i didn't have the hot sauce on my chicken I'd just have given it to thekids. On the plus side: food was served promptly and the young lady who served us was so very pleasant and so good about keepingour drinks full. She was an amazing young lady. And it was because of her that this place got 3 stars. I'm so bummed, we werelooking for a new place for our weekly dinner out. Guess not this time. I have no problem spending good money for a good meal, but I was disappointed. Again great staff and service just less desirable food and portions. Read more
