Reviews for Pleasant Hill Diner in Pleasant Hill, IA
Food was pretty good! ???? A good amount for the price. We ordered a Philly cheese steak, tenderloin, bacon cheeseburger and a... House club. Read more
We nearly left as soon as we walked in the door. The outside was weedy and not kept up. The entry did not look like it had been... cleaned/mopped in weeks. We were greeted right away so felt weird about turning around and leaving. We ordered a hot turkey anda hot roast beef sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad. Salad was bagged and as basic as you can get.Green beans were canned. Potatoes were from a box and tasteless. My husband's turkey gravy was full of lumps. The decor wascute, vintage diner style but the restaurant was dirty. The reviews that mention the place is clean really confuse me. It doesnot look like it has been clean in a very long time. The a/c vents above our table were furry with dust. The floors were filthy.Tables were leveled with wads of dirty paper napkins. There were bugs under the glass of the framed print that was on the wallby our table. The waitress was nice and a lady thanked us when we left so we have no complaints about the service but the placeneeds a good scrubbing and some homemade food like you would expect from a diner. This is a really nice out of the way place to dine! Been here several times, each time the food has been really good, decent... sized helpings, our waitress was quite pleasant and looked out for our needs. This has become a regular for me!!! Read more
I really enjoy the old school diners and this place definitely brings that feeling back to life. I had had a hankering for hash... browns and bacon and I got to tell you the hash browns were cooked perfectly as was the bacon. Our server was very pleasant andchecked it on us often. Definitely a good spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner and it's right off of the interstate. Eating withAlabaster will definitely be back ! Read more
We really get tired of asking for leniency when we enter into some of these restaurants. The understanding that I am asking is... for people to understand that my spouse has had 70% of our stomach removed. She can not hold down a lot of food. Ordering thekids menu is best for her so food doesn't go to waste. It's not about price we make plenty of money to pay for the meal. It'sjust the principle of it all. Furthermore, I personally think some of the menu items were over price. I ordered spaghetti thathad no meat in the sauce. As far as I know I know that's what comes with traditional spaghetti. Nevertheless, we were hungry andfrom out of town it is very unlikely that we will be back anyway. Read more
No wait when we arrived. Waitress was nice. Spinach soup was blah. Chocolate Chip pancakes were good. Tenderloin wasn't crispy... at all. Kind of doughy. French dip was alright. Meat was kind of dry. (Thank God for juice on the side). I received the wrongpatty melt. It was for another lady. I had touched the sanchwich, at least 3 times and after I gave it back to the waitress. Shebrought it to the lady that had ordered it. I thought th get was kind of gross. So by the time everyone else was done eating, myfood finally arrived. The rye bread was nice and burnt. $57 was definitely not worth it. Read more
This is a favorite local breakfast spot when I want a nice big omelet. The cooks know how to make them soft yet hold all the... meat and veggies even without cheese. I do not recommend the biscuit n gravy as it doesn't taste homemade or fresh althoughstill not bad. The waitress was super. The atmosphere would be great for vintage 50's look and style except music too loud. Theoutside needs be maintained but I will continue to patronize for their breakfast. I need to try their dinner because theircooks are good. Read more
