The pizza was great. Everything came out hot and in a somewhat timely manner. The service was not good but the restaurant was... also packed with a 30 min wait and many to go orders. As a native to the New Haven location, I had very high hopes when I discovered they opened a location in FL. I was a tad fearful... as they would be using Flordia water in the dough, to my surprise I found out they actually ship and purify northern water toremain compliant in original ingredients. Not only was the service spectacular but the pizza brought up nostalgic memories of mychildhood. Thank you to the outstanding staff at Pepe?s and for bringing a piece of my heart to my new home. So ecstatic that Pepe's is close by. I'll start with the crust. A+ exactly as it tastes on Wooster street. Just the right amount... of moisture on top and crunch on bottom. The nostalgic taste brings me back to summers in Connecticut. I was disappointed withthe sauce. It had a heavy sour citrus flavor. My uncle (born on Wooster) mentioned since sauce traditionally isn't precooked itwill tend to have a non sugary flavor. Most pizza joints use precooked canned sauce, so this may have changed my palette overthe years. I wonder if the cheese pizza has a different overall taste? Highly recommend if you want one of the best pizzas inthe nation. Personally I prefer Zuppardi's in West Haven, but Pepe's is a close second. Really fantastic pizza and friendly staff. We ordered a tomato pie and it came out relatively fast. The oven is huge and worth... going inside to see for yourself. There was a line outside the door and they quoted us 45 minutes. We were able to be seated in30. During those thirty minutes we found a spot to drink a margarita in the meantime. Tried Frank?s for the first time and it was pretty good. While I?ve never been to the CT locations, I thought the pizza was... flavorful and I?ll definitely have it again! The meatball & ricotta pizza was delish!! I?m giving only 4 stars because the crustwas pretty hard, the slices were cut different sizes (some were tiny and skinny while others were large) & because they don?toffer the cannoli pie at this location even though it?s advertised in the menu. First time visiting a Frank Pepe & I LOVE IT!! We tried their signature White Clam pie and if you like clam pasta you?ll like... this. Nice crunch with the salty clams. Their sausage ricotta pie was our favorite. The large pie is LARGE!! Crust was crispyand ingredients were flavorful. We enjoyed all the food and our server was very nice.
