While the Giant Burrito Roll panders to Tejano palates, the many other standard variations are truly delightful - the Cherry... Blossom Roll (how can the Chef go wrong here - honor at stake), the Snow Mountain Roll, the Special Dragon Roll and the DazzleRoll. Small cozy place that evokes the Gemütlich feeling a la Nipón. They let their ?alcohol license? expire!! They don?t have fried rice, French fries or really anything for kids. They tell you... BYOB and then charge corking fee. Sushi is ok at best but their blatant disregard for transparency is the reason I?ll never beback. DO BETTER Read more
Food is great! Service is subpar, and I?m being generous with that word. Not a fan of being asked what I?m waiting for and... realize they never got the order correctly to begin with. Also, major fail letting their liquor license expire. Spa music is notbad, but it does dampen the atmosphere big time. Read more
Uni has been our go-to sushi place in the Plano area for years. Quality for price can't be beat (and we have tried pretty much... every sushi restaurant in Richardson/Plano). The owner is very kind and it has a cozy atmosphere. Get there early to avoid await! Read more

The thrill is gone. My spouse and I have been going to Uni Sushi for over five years now, but just in the last couple of months... we've noticed something different. We inquired about the head chef and we were told that Mr. Kang, the owner and chef, retired.My spouse and I are heartbroken! Over the years, Mr. Kang, his son, and others made us feel like family. Mr. Kang made everydish extraordinary and unique. He always greeted us when we came into the restaurant, and always wished us well when we left.Now, the food is just ordinary, the presentation unimaginative, and the service unremarkable. I would usually get the ChirashiDon, and Mr. Kang would include a sesame seed blend on the rice that really added flavor and texture. Also, every piece of sushiwas uniquely shaped and creatively placed in the bowl. Not now! As you can see from the photo, not much thought went into thepresentation, the fish was as thin as prosciutto, and no extras on the rice...just plain. Oh well! Maybe the current chef/ownershave different ideas about their food and customer service. That's OK, but not for us. You never know how special something isuntil its gone.
