I remember going to Luby's as a kid when I lived in Dallas back in the '60s. Food was always delightful. The wait staff was... always very polite, and very helpful. Now the standard is someone will carry your tray and put your food on the table. No morestanding with your tray in hand a searching for a place to sit. Now they've also become your server. No more roaming around forextra water, coffee or pop. Luby's was a destination after the dentist. They always had the best blackberry cobbler. I guess I'mstarting mealtime backwards. After you gray a trey and walk down the line you?ll see lots of choices. Option of small portion orregular plates size. That's always a nice option if you're trying to stay low in your calorie count. Assortment of vegetablestons of salad, from fruit salad, cottage cheese, carrot, coleslaw or regular. You want vegetables they always have beans (frompinto to butterball) spinach or greens, potato, macaroni and cheese. Lots of choices for your entree. Liver and onions, chickenfried steak, baked or fried fish. And if you want dessert oh yes, you will be happy to find a large selection of sweets. The place inside very clean and cozy, I had takeout,but the food on today was terrible I purchased turkey and dressing( too... salted)Black Eyed Peas was not cook well or long enough,the spinach just turned my stomach now I purchase turkey and dressingbefore and everything were good and pleasing but today was just horrible !???? A trip back in time! The same excellent dishes and smiles we all remember. We were early and of course everything was... fresh...but y'all know Luby's keeps it that way all day. The line was almost out the door when we left. We need more locationsin North Texas! Read more
It's cafeteria food, so... good selection. But this place gets 4 stars because the manager/ waitress was awesome. 7/31/22... around 2 pm - give this lady a raise. (I wish I had gotten her name. She had long blonde hair. ) She had a table ready forus. She carried my elderly mom's tray for her. When we said happy birthday to mom she noticed and said she'll get mom adessert. (Yes, my mom chose Lubys for her birthday. ) She was going to bring strawberry shortcake but they didn't have any, so she brought over two different kinds of cheesecake. Mom loved it. I was surprised to see Lubys on the map and I definitely couldn't pass it up. There was a sign when we arrived that said kids... eat free on Saturday with an adult entree. I'll take a deal like that any day. The food was as good as I remembered and no oneleft hungry. We will be back! Read more
