Reviews for Kumar's in Plano, TX
I got the butter chicken curry. It tasted good, but I think they could've added more chicken. The quantity was small too, so I... wasn't able to take home any leftovers. My friend got one of the fish curries, which was good. Some of my other friends gotcurries that had bone in them. Chicken biryani had bones in it. I think they should have cleaned the bone out. An average experience at a well known establishment. We have experienced Kumar's in Houston also and had similar results. We... were seated very quickly and was brought water and buttermilk soon after. The odd thing was that they brought one water lessthan the number of people in our party. It took them a long while to bring an additional water. The food wasn't too bad, but notexceptional. There were a few very tasty items. The Chicken 65 was not bad as well as the fish special (pictured after we torethrough it lol! Sorry!) The pepper shrimp was also not bad. We ordered a dosa to try out. That was quite good actually. Thebuttermilk they provided at the beginning was really delicious. The biryani was average. The service was extremely slow NDuncoordinated- so be sure to have patience while there. The fish special was advertised as an appetizer, but when we order weit, they told us it takes a minimum of 25 minutes. I was happy they set expectations for this. Overall, it was an averageexperience. I wouldn't mind giving them another shot. Read more
I guess I?m not going to go here anytime soon. I saw a FLY in the mutton biryani nicely fried. Hopefully they get better. I... used to like Kumar?s but after this all I can say is I?m furious I wonder why they cant maintain quality. Please see photos Read more
We ordered veg street style noodles. The noodles were not that good but the restaurant made an effort to correct the issues. We... appreciate the follow back. The food is otherwise really good. Please make sure next time this doesn?t happen. Thanks ???? Read more
I LOVE THIS PLACE and what they offer ( even if it has changed!!) The limited Thali is still value for money and very filling... for a foodie like me. Hats off for still keeping it running post Pandemic and for keeping the food tasty and worth travelingfor. I really enjoyed everything especially the chicken curry and rasam. It really made me feel at home. Loved the service, andexpect nothing more. It is what it is for the number of staff they hire. Kumar's you really bring great food and concept to thewestern market! For all those who complained about customer service or the disappointment about unlimited Thali no longerrunning ; please get a perspective!!! It is never going to be like home in India where we treat everyone badly and call it greatcustomer service for people being at your hands and feet. They are running a business across the seas bringing good food to usat a value of a price. Yes if they hire more staff maybe you will get one on one service but fortunately fancy dining is notwhat you came to Kumar's for.... I'm here for the delicious "just like home" food and a great music playlist ( and for the postfood coma nap. Read more
WORST experience. Heavy crowded during week end. We had to wait for 1 hour (even though booked our table through phone call... earlier) to get our table and had to wait for another 30 mins to get the food on our table. Food taste is AVERAGE and not worthwhile comparing the wait time. Staffs could be more polite on communication. Over crowd is understandable . But , try to valuecustomers time and give proper communication. Read more
This is so far our good choice to go for dinner here. We ordered soup( Aatu kal soup) goat bone soup with spices. We loved it.... Chicken dum biryani rice: I will say it was good very flavor full, but I will call it more like chicken rice instead of biryanijust because of presentation and texture. Mutton chops were amazing, very well cooked and masala was super good with garlicNaan. Other than that ambiance is cozy. The server was good and quick and was able to suggest good items from the menu. Theprice range is on the higher side compared to other Indian restaurants in Plano. All over clean cozy and a great place to enjoywith family and friends. Read more
If you can get past the blah and plain ambience of the place, the flavors will definitely take you on a South Indian bliss... ride. The quantity of food was as great as the quality. Overall it was great, memorable.... not so much. Worth a trydefinitely. Read more
