Reviews for Powell's Steamer Co & Pub in Placerville, CA
I went there for my birthday. Service was ok, but food was awful I ordered the shrimp scampi it was over cooked I had shells in... my food and it only tasted like lemon juice. The fish tacos were very bland and the New England Clam Chowder was not the one weknow, it was a thick glob with no taste . I couldn?t finish it to that point and the server didn?t seem to wash her hands aftertouching countless of things especially the bread she had black stuff under her nails which was disturbing to even eat. I reallyhope they get it together and apply some hygiene products for them to use. Read more
Mislead by the delicious smell of garlic, cute atmosphere and the very proud pricing. The food was extremely bland. The service... was pleasant, but bare bones. No refills of water, bread, or even asking how the meal was... it's like she already knew. Read more
Great place to have a beer and oyster/ shrimp platters. Scott was a great host and the food was delicious with the brine he uses... to boil the shrimp! Can't go wrong stopping in this place! Read more
Love the live music! Would love to see upcoming music advertised. Excellent & friendly wait staff & great cooks. Jonny Mojo &... Eric play again 10/18. Love Taco Tuesday, yum. Read more
I ordered the 1/2 bbq ribs lunch. Oh my goodness, they're absolutely delicious!! Also, they brew their own iced tea which was... fabulous. I highly recommend if you're ever in Placerville, California, stop by and enjoy their food and staff. Read more
Used to be better. I get the red clam chowder but lately not up to par, very salty, no taste and no clams that I could find.... It's not expensive but that's no excuse for crapy food. Hope they get it together so I can return. Read more
The atmosphere and service were nice, the food was disappointing. Oysters were fine, if a little limp. Ordered both chowders -... the white one had plenty of clams, but tasted flavorless and nothing like a New England clam chowder. The red one tasted likethe same thing, but with taco seasoning mixed in. The mussels were just okay, a small portion for the price, and I had torequest bread, even though menu says they come with bread. The sauce felt too heavy. We ordered the smoked salmon linguine aswell, and the sauce was weirdly sweet. I was surprised by the high star reviews, but after reading them they seem to be for thebar aspect of this place, rather than the restaurant. With so many great dining options in Placerville, I will be avoiding thisplace in the future. Read more
1st time dining here, was a great experience. Good service, food was delicious, portions were appropriate and the price was... reasonable (about $20 avg. per entree). Dining area is time tested but clean, parking available in the nearby public garage. All good for the four of us, no reservations needed. Read more
