Average, it doesn?t make the mark but has potential to be a good eatery. In my travels, I have had many joyous savoring as of... Ethiopian cuisine, with its exquisite Berbere sauce, spices and yes, chilies. This Pittsburgh shindig misses the mark, althoughit qualifies an average rating. The menu is short, which should allow the chef to master it. He/she MUST if this place is toprogress. The Injera, an Ethiopian staple, is a tad more acidic than what I had in other establishments. It leaves a lingeringsourness on the back of the palate that limits enjoyment of the main dishes. Their samplers (meat or veggies) are a good waysavor flavor and textures. The veggies sampler is slightly better than the meat sampler. BUT the meats all tasted the same, theTana Tibs (Lamb) has the slight edge. Main issue?-WHY oh WHY is food served lukewarm?? It?s verging on cold!! It also NEEDSmore seasoning and some heat. Ethiopian food is known for its balanced seasoning and heat! Another issue?Enjoyment of Ethiopiandining with one?s bare fingers. Therefore, cleansing wipes and/or heated moistened hand towels MUST be provided. Solve theissues, and it will be a good eatery. Read more

It was interesting experience to have Ethiopian food in Pittsburgh. But the price compare the amount of the food (meat and... vegetables are not enough for the roll). And the roll is sour flavor (it?s not their fault, just wanna you early notice if youfirst time want to try) Read more

It breaks my heart to give any less than 5 stars, because the first time I went, it was pretty good, and the staff were very... friendly. The last few times, however, it has seemed as though the portions have shrunk (they were small to begin with), andthe food is bland/ tastes like it's been held over and reheated.the injera was good the first time, a year or so ago, butrecently it's been bland too. The new servers are pretty surly and can't really be bothered, it seems... I grew up absolutelyloving Ethiopian cuisine, and the culture and environment in each restaurant. I sincerely hope things turn back around, as Imiss having a good spot to go! Read more

Food was yummy, drinks were good too! Tiff was waiting at our table (and the floor) and also the bartender. She was very... hard-working and sincere, and we totally adored her presence. Our friends and I had a great time. Recommended! Read more

So happy to have an Ethiopian restaurant in Pittsburgh. Got the meat and vegetarian samplers. Both came with a lot of food and... were tasty. I thought the injera was particularly good. Super nice people running the place. I ordered to go but thought theatmosphere was cute. Would definitely come back and sit down for a meal in the future with friends. Read more

Had dinner last night at Tana with my daughter. We both had the Vegetarian Combo which is served on a large crepe with four... veggie selections and eaten by hand. I also ordered a side of collard greens which I would recommend. It was very good althoughI would have liked a bit more seasoning. Service was good and friendly. Attractive, simple decor. Read more
