Reviews for The Sycamore at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro, NC
Our friends gave us a gift card about a year ago, as a "Thank You" gift, because they're cool like that - We wanted to save it... for a special occasion, so we chose my husband's Birthday this year - What a fantabulous experience - from the quick responsefrom the manager, when I emailed to inquire whether there was an expiration date on gift cards (there isn't) to... The Hoststo... The Atmosphere (excellent surprise that our friend Lindsay Rosebrock was 'tickling the ivories' with the most beautifulmusic) to... The Bartender who was as genuinely smooth as the wine - (didn't laugh at my question about the 3 different wineprices by certain wines - even though I've been a bartender off & on for MANY years, I wasn't sure - I thought the middle pricewas for a half bottle, ???? but it's for a 9 oz. pour) - didn't find out his name, dangit (we had 9 oz. pours of Folly of theBeast Pinot Noir - SO smooth & delish) to... Our server, Michelle, who was very knowledgable, friendly, humorous, accommodating- top notch! (When I told her I'd been studying the menu ahead of our visit, meaning, trying to make a choice - see below - shequipped that maybe I could tell her about the menu items - I opted to leave it to her professionalism - she was awesome!) -to... The Chef/s -The food was spectacular! I looked at the menu several times online on the days leading up to ourreservation - trying to decide amongst the many delectable choices... Although many who had been to The Sycamore before hadadvised to get any of the beef items, (due to the specialty of the source, all of the details I can't remember - ask Michelle????- she does) - I kept steering towards Joyce Farms Chicken Breast with Cippolini Onion Compote/Creamy Polenta/GoatCheese... Perfectly crisp, yet, tender - perfectly seasoned - the complement of the sweet-ish compote with the creamy polenta &creamy goat cheese - it's a wonder I could eat, due to the smile on my face & the constant "oh my GAWD" between bite Read more
We had an excellent dinner at The Sycamore - I can highly recommend it. Service was friendly and professional. Our apple-celery... salad was delicious and good for two. My wife and I both had the duck breast and it was superb. And our desserts were bothgreat, lemon meringue and lemon olive oil cake. The wine list isn't long but is well chosen. A great evening and a highlyrecommended restaurant. Read more
Fantastic food and atmosphere! Waiters were so helpful and attentive. A hidden gem in Pittsboro.
We've been to The Sycamore three times now and each visit has been a wonderful culinary experience with impeccable service. As... restaurant owners ourselves, we have high standards and I can say our standards were exceeded here! The decor is inviting andcomfortable while still being upscale and posh. Each dish is carefully crafted to bring out specific flavors and always with atwist on what you would be expecting. On the spring menu, the lamb, duck breast, and swordfish were all excellent. We are notusually dessert people, but the cheesecake was amazing and the chocolate pot de creme was heavenly. The beef tartare is one ofthe best we have had and beautifully plated. We have hit a number of other finer dining establishments in the area since movinghere a few years ago, and The Sycamore definitely comes out on top. If you don't live in Pittsboro, it's worth the drive tocheck this place out. They also have a lounge area with TVs and a pool table so it's a great place to grab a drink and biteeven if you don't want a full meal. The cocktails are hand crafted and excellent. You truly can't go wrong if you dine here. We will be back ! Read more
I cannot say enough about the experience, food, service, and exquisite cocktails at The Sycamore. This is the fine dining... option, elegantly set that Pittsboro needed. Del was wonderful, knowledgeable, and attentive. Adham, behind the bar, madeinarguably the best Old Fashioned that I’ve ever had. We will be regulars. Read more

What an absolutely wonderful evening. We had some friends in town for Thanksgiving and wanted to have a "fancy" night. My wife... and I have been wanting to try the Sycamore for some time but each time we think about going out, we miss out on a reservation(we now know about he lounge!). Let me start off by saying it's a gorgeous setting. It's cozy and intimate but never feelscrowded. There's live music each night and Wednesday night had a lovely band playing some great music. Some folks state themusic is too loud but you can't please everyone. Music is played best when you can hear it. We were able to speak to our tablewithout issue. Our waiters was name was Handsome and what a an amazing asset he is to the Sycamore. He was very well versed inhis wines, the menu, and pairings. We were already talking about ordering "family style" but that's often taboo in a fancysetting. Handsome suggested right away that family style is not only acceptable but the best way to sample all of their amazingeats. The food was absolutely amazing. The duck was a clear winner at the table but not a single plate had foodremaining. This is not your quick grab and go spot. This is that restaurant that you go too when you need a getaway. At nopoint we're we rushed. We enjoyed our meal, odyr company, and the music. This is a must have stop for your next fancyputting. We are 100% going back for an anniversary dinner. Such a treat!
