Wonderful tapas restaurant in the heart of Pismo Beach. It's got a cool vibe, an upscale decor and friendly staff. Great... selection of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I highly recommend the Octapus and Lamb Lollipops, both were so scrumptious. Abit pricey, but well worth it for special occasions. Read more

My wife, son Harry and I visited Pismo with a recommendation to try a different restaurant down the road which happened to be... fully booked. We found La Bodega nearby and were delighted we did. Theresa the owner and chef, and her husband John give thisplace a very homely feel and they genuinely care that you have a good time. The food was superb, very fresh and beautiful cookedand presented. You must go if you are in the area. Jess who served us was excellent too. Read more

This is a lovely restaurant in the heart of Pismo Beach. They have an extensive wine and drink menu and a wonderful fresh... seafood menu. Their seafood cioppino was outstanding and served with fresh baked bread. The shrimp risotto was flavorful andcooked perfectly. Their desserts are fantastic, especially the triple berry crisp. Our server was so friendly and accommodating,he was exceptional! We will be back! Read more

Found this place by accident and was enticed by the prospect of tapas, as we wanted small plates to share, rather than the usual... oversized US food portions. The restaurant is nicely appointed and service was excellent. The menu was varied and interesting;lots of it very different to what we would call tapas in Europe. Our dishes were all good; tasty and well presented. TheCalifornian wines were also excellent. A little pricey for what we had but nevertheless well worth visiting. Read more

We stopped by on a whim after having been immediately forced out by the incredibly limited hygiene of the popular, local fish... house just a mile south. La Bodega had not popped up as a suggested place in our search for great restaurants in Pismo Beach. That needs to change! La Bodega is a charming, Spanish-inspired tapas bar with flavors unlike any other. La Bodega is worth thedrive, the wait and the price. Be sure to look at the photos of the building on this post so you know what it looks like. Thislocation was previously used as a bank and has a way of sneaking past you if you don't look for it in downtown Pismo. We wereonly looking to have an appetizer, so we ordered two tapas: Valencia Paella (mixed seafood rice dish) and Abalone (served inits shell atop green apples and a heavenly tomatillo sauce). We paired the paella with the spiciness of Old Fashioned cocktailand the abalone with Enlightenment (a crisp and light signature cocktail drink). Spectacular! The abalone was handled gently andthe flavors in the sauce were well-balanced, ensuring the tartness of the green apple and tomatillo sauce did notoverwhelm. These tapas are shareable... but why?! The shellfish at Pismo's La Bodega even has a way of making the selfish inyou shine. Without hesitation we ordered the Octopus Salad (on a bed of locally farmed greens and a gently spicy red sauce),Brava Shrimp (paired with a buttery sauce that makes you wish it was served as a drink) and the Scallops (on a bed of oiledheirloom tomatoes). Wow! Chef Teresa (restaurant owner) knows what she's doing in that kitchen. Everything was cooked toperfection. The Octopus was so refined that I had to be reminded that it was the octopus and not the scallops I was eating. Bythe way, the actual scallops were exquisitely fresh and light. People! Do not stay away from the Shrimp simply because it ispaired with a "brava" sauce! This sauce offers a gentle bite and not a kick in the mouth. I shamelessly fingered that sa Read more

After multiple attempts at trying to find a place to eat in Pismo Beach we stumbled upon La Bodega which based on our affinity... for Spanish cuisine we agreed to give a try. The person who greeted us was pleasant and inviting she assured us the dishes wereprepared by the owner as in her native Spain and that we wouldn't be disappointed, we agreed at this point out of hunger to behonest. They showed us to our table which was beautifully decorated and had a great view of the ocean afar. The idea of organicand locally sourced was already inviting to be honest; we proceeded to order the burrata and peach salad, the lamb lollipops andthe grilled octopus paired with a good bottle of Tempranillo wine. Our waiter gave us great pointers and was excellent at hisjob. The food was really good, you could taste the freshness and love in every bite; it certainly reminded us of Spain in thesimplicity of ingredients but complexity of flavors. The staff is outstanding and the ambiance is great. I am glad we stumbledupon this place as I certainly hope to be back. Highly recommended! Read more
