Reviews for The Red Dog Saloon in Pioneertown, CA
Came to check out Pioneertown and stopped in here for some drinks. The food menu sounded really appealing, but we were here in... between meals. There?s plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Read more
The Red Dog is an awesome place for food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere! Whether it?s 9pm or noon it always feel like a party.... I like all of their tacos, but the brisket or mushroom one is my favorite. Their drinks are excellent, they even make a greatBloody Mary. Read more
The place was excellent. Upon entry there were people dancing right in the center! I would have joined but my friends and I were... food focused and hungry. On Sundays they have a live DJ and they were playing great hits. Ordering is simple enough - grab amenu and order at the bar, then they give you a buzzer to pick it up. Service was very fast and excellent. You seat yourselfanywhere. I would have taken a photo of my food but it was gone quickly. They have vegan/vegetarian options such as the mushroomasada taco and the other mushroom (raja?) taco - both are excellent! Read more
World class saloon serving up great cocktails and drinks - food looked incredible too. Excellent place to watch the sun go down... over Pioneertown. Will return. Read more
Neat bar. Nicely remodeled. Probably could have had one more bartender to make the wait shorter (and turn customers faster). ... We were surprised they hadn't even heard of sarsaparilla since it would have been a period-correct beverage option. The cowboycoffee over ice was tasty. Read more
Great carnitas Tacos! Guacamole was amazing. Bloodies were awesome. Everything but the automatic 16% gratuity was 5 stars.
TL;DR: This saloonas has some of the best cocktails and food I've had the pleasure of eating at a tourist... destination. Fantastic find! Me and my friends camping in nearby Black Rock Campground and because of a bum knee we had toscrap our plans and we went sightseeing instead! We headed to Pioneertown, where many old Western and modern movies have beenshot. There's a lot of cute shops, and the locals are friendly. At the saloon me and my friends tried their cowboy coffee,Moscow mule, bloody Mary, churros, and tater tots. The bloody Mary was one of the best I'd ever had, made with fresh juices andhorseradish. The tatertots came out piping hot and perfectly crunchy on the outside, with a fantastic dipping sauce. Priceswere also very reasonable, especially for the drinks! I'm coming back here again next time I'm in the area, for sure! Read more
Food was decent, particularly the brisket tacos and street corn, but portions are ridiculously tiny for the price. We spent $100... for two people on tacos and quesadillas. Guac was $8 and maybe a 1/4 cup. They also automatically charge 16% service charge eventhough you order at the bar, pick up the food outside, and seat yourself. Read more
