Top notch service . It was just me so i sat at the counter . I was hungry so i ordered the corn chowder onion rings and the hash... skillet . I also splurged and got a strawberry milkshake. The corn chowder was homemade. It was good but i needed to add somesalt to it. The onion rings were beer battered and i did t particularly care for them at all . This spot is legendary! I have been coming here before most of the current crowd was born. That said, all are welcomed at this... Catskills classic. Come hungry as portions are not small. The staff are great and given its size it?s run like a well oiledmachine. I had the meatloaf sandwich and upgraded my fries to onion rings. My wife had a breakfast burrito. Both weregreat! Only critique would be there is a lot of batter on the onion rings so not all of them had a crispy outside. But I?lladmit that?s a very minor flaw in an otherwise exceptional experience. Read more
Whenever I spend a weekend in the Catskills, I make sure I have breakfast here. 3rd time here and still never disappoints. It... actually gets better! I had the corn beef skillet with eggs over easy for breakfast and had their mimosa (Strong and Large!)and my boyfriend had pancakes, eggs and bacon. My dish was SO delicious and filling. Read more
I was impressed by this diner - in NYC, diner food is pretty typical, burgers and fries; by that I meant very average and much... like a McDonald's. This one also sells burger and fries but ingredients are sourced from local farms and drinks from localdistilleries. The flavors are on point; portion and price are reasonable; presentation was lovely and the servers were friendly.Overall ambience - warm and cozy, it makes me feel like home. Enjoyed our lunch at Phoenicia diner. The staff was very friendly, we requested booth seating and were accommodated. The food... was pretty good. Unfortunately the diner has no appetizers. Their side orders could be served as an app so we got beer batteredonion rings. They were pretty good. I enjoyed my burger, but wish it had cheese.. I didn?t realize until I got my order anddidn?t want to overwhelm the kitchen to remake it. If you want cheese on your burger, ask before. Not sure if they have butdoesn?t hurt to ask. We decided to stop by a place to eat after snowboarding, and this was the first place we saw. Beautiful classic diner setting,... lots of ambient light and beautiful views of the mountains. Their menu was minimal but everything in it was amazing! I had thehomemade corned beef hash and eggs, hubs had the meatloaf, and my sister had the pan fried trout. Absolutely incredible, thehash and eggs skillet had homemade chunks of corned beef and potatoes, with poached eggs on top, divine! They don?t make ?em like they used to! This diner is nothing shorty of high quality and originality. Get the trout! Reminiscent... of what I would imagine Don Draper and his family would visit on their Catskills family vacation. Coffee is tasty. Food isdelicious. Atmosphere is blissful. Will be back for dinner!
