Reviews for The Tavern Philly in Philadelphia, PA
Went with my wife and 2 kids to the restaurant in the tavern and it was great. All meals, the meatloaf, salmon dish, bolagnese,... and grilled cheese w tomato soup we're all great! Drinks were great as well. Jeremy was a great waiter as well! Thank you! Read more
Great food but the barmaid needs some warmth....
Good food. Comfortable setting. Low noise level.
Ok at best. Beer and cocktail selection is vaguely interesting, but menu is not and a number of guests in my party left hungry... after a black bean burger and an appetizer. Service was attentive enough and atmosphere was quiet and cozy, but overall I haveno desire to go back other than for a quiet but expensive drink. Read more
Tavern Old Fashioned ($12) [4/5] was good but I expect an exceptional cocktail to merit a 5 star if I'm paying $12 in... Philly Porchetta Sandwich ($14) [5/5] was meaty, juicy, and just the thing I was looking for to fill me up late night. Thereare three levels to this venue and I was in the basement, which was very low key relative to the piano and larger crowdupstairs. The bartender and local patrons alike were very friendly and open to striking up a conversation. Read more
Fantastic restaurant in the basement of Tavern on Camac. The food here is absolutely fantastic and they have the best grilled... cheese that I have ever eaten. Highly recommend it. Read more
The Tavern is a serious eater & drinker's dream. Classic cocktails (and excellent spirits to concoct them) awesome craft beer... list, and tasty wine at a price that makes you all the more likely to drink a little too much... The chef, Mackenzie Hilton, isa staple in the dining room as she runs food and greets guests - it's really a homey and personal experience with the chefalways around, greeting friends & regulars and newcomers. Best for last - the food. It's exactly what you want it to be, allmade with fresh & top notch ingredients. There are tons of great bar snacks like deviled eggs, chicken liver mousse, not tomention chef Mackenzie makes incredible pickles (you can get a pickle plate with all nine varieties!). You can get a good sized, super satisfying burger, a po boy, or a "slider" version of pretty much all of their sandwiches. They also have lighter optionslike salads, and comfort food specials like duck pot pie. Mackenzie doesn't skimp on dessert either, withbetter-than-your-mom-made-them homemade chocolate chip cookies, popsicles made of peaches and champagne, or caramel corn withvanilla ice cream. I had dinner here with friends as a party of four and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the jumbo lump crab deviled... eggs and the meatloaf entrée. Both were very tasty the meatloaf was not dry and had great flavor. The only disappointment was aone item dessert menu none of us found very appealing. Service was also excellent very attentive and well informed. There iseasy access to the upstairs bar/lounge if you are inclined to go after your meal. Read more
