Reviews for Tambayan in Philadelphia, PA
Delicious French macarons. Big size. Light and crisp. Not too sweet. We had Ube and pineapple.
It’s my second time here in Philly and craved Filipino food. Found this restaurant in google. Sorta disappointed with the... quality of the food. I ordered Tapsilog, Shrimp Pancit and 2 Pineapple juice. Tapa is tough af; it is so hard to chew. Pancit isokay but it only has 3 shrimp for a $11 meal. The pineapple juice is very good. Read more
I used the TooGoodToGo, and it was a big mistake. Very little food they give you. (Other place gives you so much food). The... picture is per order. It’s definitely not worth the $4 each order, but it’s ok, if the quality is good, but NO. The ricewas uncooked, the sausage was very dry. The noodle was just vegetable and very soggy. This place is beyond ridiculous. So badthat I was angry at myself for trying this place. I learned my lesson and will never order from here again. Read more
Really loved the taro drink! The fried lumpia’s were perfectly hot and crispy, and stew had good flavor. Will have to go back... earlier on another day to try other dishes. Salamat! Read more
I recently relocated to Philly from the West Coast. Coming from out West, there is an abundance and wide array of Filipino food... options. Enter Philadelphia where the options are sparse.\n\nThen you have Tambayan at Reading Terminal. Set in a phenomenallocation to introduce people to Filipino food. Tambayan hits the mark for bringing the flavors of 7,100 islands to the City ofBrotherly Love. It is the hybrid of a Filipino Turo-Turo restaurant (look it up if you don\'t know) and a traditional sit downrestaurant. While the menu is limited, it allows the staff to prepare fresher food items which is often problematic attraditional turo-turo restaurants. To top it all off, the service is warm and welcoming which brings the heart of the Filipinoto the table.\n\nGiven the amount of Filipinos in the US, Filipino food is underrepresented in the American food scene. So, manypeople just don\'t know about it. Tambayan gives people a safe space to try the fabulous flavors of the Philippines. Food is allabout taste and see. Give it a try. The worst thing that will happen is that you don\'t like it. So try something different nexttime. I doubt you\'ll have bad experience!\n\nMabuhay kayo kabayan at maraming salamat po! Read more
After reading some of the reviews here, my expectation went from high to low... however, i still like experiencing restaurants... personally to form my own opinion and let\'s just say some people aren\'t very forgiving with their rating while I enjoyed mystay, my food and my time at Tambayan. I had the Spaghetti, which i haven\'t had for a long time, and it was delicious andfilling. The mango juice complimented the saltiness of the spaghetti and of course the halo halo brought it home for me. Trythis place for yourself and you may find a better experience than some of the reviewers here. Read more
Kathy and her wonderful team catered my farewell brunch for our wedding this past weekend and they did a fabulous job! Working... with Kathy was incredibly easy. We dropped by their store in Reading Terminal Market to inquire and then coordinated via emailfrom there.\n\nWhen we came Sunday morning to pick up our order, everything was ready for us, packaged and presentedbeautifully, and placed in large boxes so we could transport it easily. Kathy herself even helped us cart the boxes out to ourcar. She was so excited for us, she included extra food at no additional charge because she wanted to make sure we had more thanenough food.\n\nOur guests LOVED the brunch and could not stop raving about how wonderful and thoughtfully presented everythingwas. We ordered the Filipino BBQ, Fried Lumpia, an assortment of her incredible macarons, ube pandesal filled with cheese, and50 individual portions of longsilog which included longanisa (a filipino sweet sausage), garlic rice, two sunny side up friedeggs cooked perfectly, and a small salad. The portions were perfect and our guests had their fill. We even had lots of leftovers(which we have since polished off).\n\nI went back to Tambayan a couple days later to give her back the large boxes and alsodecided to have breakfast. Kathy and her staff were so excited to see me and hear how the wedding and brunch went. I sharedpictures while enjoying their Tapsilog breakfast platter–which was perfectly portioned for me! Kathy shared her inspiringstory with me of growing up with nothing and getting to where she is today.\n\nI\'m so proud of her and her team and I\'mexcited to have them and their food here in Philly!
