Reviews for Scarpetta Beach in Philadelphia, PA
Delicious! Our beautiful bartender, Alexia, was super informative, attentive, and friendly. I told her how much I loved the... bread variety that I embarrassingly woofed down way too fast. Without asking, she grabbed more for us! I had the cucumbergimlet. SUPER REFRESHING! I found it odd that fresh grated black pepper was the garnished on top but it was surprisingly apleasant touch that brought all the flavors together nicely! We picked the polenta as an appetizer, and red snapper (peralexia’s suggestion). PHENOMENAL! I could’ve eaten until my insides ruptured! Hats off to chef! I definitely will return inthe very near future!!! Read more
This is a beautiful restaurant with nice ambiance. We came here to celebrate my birthday. However, one thing I would complain... about is the portion size. This is our first time dining here so we didn’t know how small the portions were. We asked to sharebasil spaghetti among 4 people as an appetizer. Instead of suggesting that we order two servings to divide among 4 people, thechef just refused saying that the servings would be too small. Why not suggest that we order two servings? Perhaps the waitercould have explained things better but my husband was annoyed that the chef would not oblige our request. The manager came andoffered an apology then portioned it out for us at the table which was nice but indeed it was too small. Basically it was onebite which meant it was $6 per bite. We ordered the chicken dish, a fish dish and the lobster black pasta dish. While everythingtasted good, we left a bit hungry. My favorite dish was the basil spaghetti; it was simple and delicious with ridiculously smallportions. Perhaps we will return and order more dishes. The food is amazing Read more
I took my girlfriend here for her 36th birthday and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was so rich and tasty,... and the atmosphere was perfectly fitting. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and the drinks from the bar were top tier! Read more
Sure, it's a chain restaurant, but it's quality. Located just beside The Rittenhouse Hotel & Spa. The main dining room is at the... 2nd floor. First off the service was fantastic and very attentive/engaging staff members. The opening bread was excellent. Thebraised octopus appetizer was tender. The grilled branzino had a good crispy skin and a flavorful tangy sauce. The tagliatellebolognese was such a classic Italian comfort food, except they use a slightly different pasta (slightly firmer than the typicalpasta but somehow I liked it). By the way, great view if you can sit by the window, directly overlooking the RittenhouseSquare. The only downside? Slightly pricy (but not excessive and completely understandable given the prime location) Read more
Haven't been to Scarpetta since the Thanksgiving dinner in 2017, and the food is still quite good, well most of it. The menu is... very interesting with this touch of modern and inventive 'cucina Italiana', good ingredients and more than enough choices. Theobviously overcooked pasta, very far from al-dente, and the equally overcooked seared scallops couldn't change the overallpositive gastro experience. The ambiance is great with magnificent views to the Rittenhouse Square. Then was the service. Atotal and complete disaster. Very pushy gentleman who repeatedly tried to upsell everything, from wine to addinglobster/crabmeat to our fillet mignon. Then a big no-no for a fine dining establishment, trying to sell a bottle of Super Tuscanadvertized as his personal favorite. The server wasn't Robert Parker neither James Suckling, his personal tastes in wines are ofno authority neither interest for us. When we ordered an additional glass of Barbaresco it was poured in the same glass whereour bottle of Nebbiolo was poured before! And finally a $104 bottle of Veneto, ordered originally and found to be unavailable, was included in our check atop of the Nebbiolo bottle served as a second choice. An honest mistake? This kind of mistake wouldhave put $104 in the server's pockets, and not vice versa. Being very forgiving and very far from bloodthirsty diners, suchuhm... servers shouldn't be allowed to work in Rittenhouse Square fine dining establishments. Read more
Absolutely fabulous food and service served by friendly staff in a classy, relaxed setting. The only reason I have not given... five stars is the prices are rather high. That said, each dish we had was absolutely DIVINE. Even the bread basket served, which included some delicious ham and cheese swirls and three different spreads, was extraordinary and a true highlight of theemail. While menu options are limited, it seems one cannot go wrong. I had the burrata and tagliatelle bolognese as my main andwas in heaven with every bite. If money were no object, I would be a regular here. Read more
I went to Scarpetta for restaurant week and I couldn't have made a better choice! The food was amazing. My favorite dish was... the ravioli stuffed with braised short ribs and bone marrow. And for dessert the coconut panna cotta! Everything wasdelicious. The service was great and everyone seemed friendly. If you sit by the window you get a nice view of RittenhouseSquare. Definitely want to go back soon! Read more
