Cozy bar and restaurant tucked a little way off Broad St. Decorated nicely for the holidays. The place was packed but we were... able to find an available table within 5 minutes of walking in. The waitress handles the crowd and our order with speed andaccuracy and we had our drinks and apps shortly after ordering. The menu had a great selection of holiday meals and drinkspecials as well as other common fare like burgers, salads and sandwiches. My salmon with rice pilaf and roasted veggies wasvery tasty and my husband's bacon cheeseburger was meaty and made fresh to order. Only one option for dessert, Oreo mousse cake, but it was great. To top the night off, Ben Franklin visited and enjoyed a beer! Read more

Beautiful Irish tavern and fantastic vibes. The place was lit with gorgeous Christmas decorations. Got the famous beer sampler... that comes with a sample of 6 drafts served in an artistic holder. The quantity of sample beers was more than I imagined. It wastotally worth it. Also ordered Vegetarian Nachos which were a little spicy, crunchy and an absolute treat that paired well withthe beer sampler. I loved the time I spent at this Ale house. Read more

Good prices and a wide variety of drinks, but there were very few seating options. It’s largely college students on the... weekend nights and got busy so there weren’t places to sit/ stand. A nice atmosphere though and they had cool Christmasdecorations. Read more

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad it was! It's almost like in an alley so it's not something you might... just see unless you were looking for it or something particular on the map. The recommendation was specifically for a shepherdspie which my husband ordered, while I ordered the brats. Both were great, my husband said it was the best shepherds pie he'dever eaten. The ambiance is nice and it's cool that it's two stories with another bar up top (along with the bathrooms whichwere freshly cleaned btw). Read more

A really great place. Great service and a cool old school pub vibe. One small issue is when we were there we ordered a pitcher... of milk stout, from Lancaster (?) brewing. The beer tasted awful! Everyone in the party took a sip and recognized that it wasnot good. We talked to our server who then talked to her manager. They did not take it off our bill and the manager came overand told us that's how it's supposed to taste. Beer is not supposed to taste like that - as it was terrible and tasted like sourmilk. Honestly, a small issue as we were there for a while in the experience overall was excellent. Get here, it is a greatplace! Read more

Slightly out of the way, this is a remarkably historic tavern in the middle of Philly, and a nearly perfect spot for pub grub... and drinks close to City Hall. I was tempted to get one of the sandwiches, but tradition won out and I ordered some fish andchips. They were pretty good, nothing remarkable but quite fresh and filling. Paired with a porter, it was wonderful. Theatmosphere and the staff are absolutely amazing, though. The walls are covered in Philly's history and present, and the serversmake you feel right at home. If you're in the area for a bit, I highly encourage to visit for a pint, and maybe a bite. Read more

Went here with my Girlfriend to get drinks before we were gonna go out for dinner. We liked the vibe so much we skipped dinner... plans and just drank beers and ate French fries until 10pm lol. Great environment and awesome history. The walls are litteredwith pictures of years gone by it was very cool I would recommend anyone to stop by and enjoy the history of the oldest bar inPhilly. The servers were very attentive and nice. Overall 26/30. Read more

The place is very cool, the beer is good, the food is delicious, but none of this counts when the staff is rude. The waitress... didn't even wait until we finish eating and took our dishes and beer. We were still eating and drinking. When we complained, shejust gave back our glasses (which were already piled up in her tray) and turned away. It is nice to visit because it's anhistorical place. But don't expect good service. Read more
