This place is a beautiful combination of cozy, genuine hospitality, delicious food, and incredible ambiance. Classic cash only... spot, ATM on site, and the prices are really fair. Michael, the business owner is the Jack of All Trades in this place; FOH,chef, and host. He started us off with some huge tropical drinks; guava mango and pineapple lime; both were in itself a meal, real fruit and generous portions! My partner ordered the surf n turf while I ordered the vegetarian chimichanga (one of thespecials)? both were so goood and very large in portions. Each plate was like feeding for two! The space is super small but SOcozy. There?s even a fire pit in the front of the restaurant that pulls in that amazing campfire smell. This is definitely aplace I?ll recommend if someone is looking for real authentic Mexican food; owned by a Latinx chef. Read more

Had the tamale plate. Was delicious, incredibly fresh, savory, unique. A lot of the meals come with a dollop of delicious... bright yellow potato salad with fresh cilantro ontop. YUM. For a one-man operation, this beats any restaurant around. I love thevariety of food that just one plate offers. I had a little bit of everything on it, which is just how I like it. Not boring! Ifyou?re driving by, you might miss. It?s easily spotted if you?re a pedestrian. It has a walk-up window where you order from.Always interesting, upbeat music playing. We plan to come all of the time. Read more

I can say with absolute certainty say that the brisket burrito I ate earlier tonight was the best I have ever had. Michael the... chef was extremely personable and an all around pleasure as he provided excellent service. It almost feels like being invitedinto someone?s house and being served a home cooked meal. Before La Bamba, life was a dull every day occurrence that I was forced to endure. After La Bamba, I finally know what real,... sincere optimism is. This food the environment, and the experience is something that you would only imagine exists in animaginary universe inside your favorite multi-season show. The ambiance is intimate, yet still authentic to Philadelphia and theculture that creates what La Bamba really is. No restaurant will ever be able to recreate this type of life changing experience.Make sure you call and make a reservation because you'll regret it if you don't. If I was ever in a position to choose a lastmeal, La Bomba would be catering. Even after writing and rewiring this review, I don't think I can fully explain what, exactly,La Bamba is bringing to the table. Read more

Friendly owner/chef who made our platter and burrito to order. We got the shrimp & octopus fajita bucket and the Pibil pork and... plantain burrito. Everything was so fresh and perfectly seasoned and cooked ? the shrimp and octopus were so tender! The buckethad so many sides, which I hear rotate seasonally. The wraps are made fresh (3x daily!) as well! The burrito wraps were likenothing I?ve had before, so flakey and soft. We will definitely be returning to try their other dishes and juices!!! Inpictures: hand for size. shrimp & octopus fajita bucket w/ cactus, spring garden salad, roasted potato, asparagus, pinto beans, yellow rice, roasted peppers, guacamole, grilled zucchini, string beans, red onions, salsa sides, tortilla wraps, w/ pibil porkplantain burrito updated 8/17/2021: our order of ahi tacos (only 2 in the order, not mentioned on the menu) & sirloin hashburrito came out a total of $32. That?s roughly $11 per taco if the burrito was about $10. Disappointed that sirloin hash wasactually just ground beef. The last time we went to La Bamba a few months ago, menu had prices listed and they were way belowwhat we were charged last night. I can no longer recommend an establishment where there?s no transparency between owner andcustomer; no quality of food is worth unpleasant surprises Read more
