We got off the train and wanted lunch before our 4 o'clock appointment. We were in no hurry and decided on JG's. Easy walk over... from the station. It was 2 p.m. and there was no one to greet/seat us, so we just walked into the bar and were told to feelfree to sit anywhere. Menus and water showed up quickly, but no one came to take our order. Finally caught the eye of thebartender and she came over. She was what I'll call 'short' with us on any questions, but got our order turned in. It showed upin a reasonable time and was nice & hot........ a big plus these days. The cauliflower soup might be one of the best soups we'vehad. It was definitely 5-star and we are hoping they have next week when we are back. My wife's accompanying chicken saladsandwich was also excellent, served on a multi-grain bread. I had their burger & fries. Again, excellent, cooked as ordered,with what appeared to be a home-made patty. The fries were just to our liking and the mayo/malt-vinegar sauce was near perfectfor both the burger & fries. We would give 5-stars for food, but only 3-3.5 for service as we had to chase down the server3-times for more water, the bill, etc. We will go back for the food, which was terrific. Read more
2 dinner entrees to choose from. For such a lovely atmosphere, it is vey focused on the $12 drinks. I found it interesting one... drink was $12 on happy hour. We just had food and some and I wasn't all that impressed with the excess amount of salt in thesteak, though it was cooked perfectly and USDA Prime. Nachos were good but I wouldn't get it again. All in all I wish we hadgone somewhere else. It was chosen due to its proximity to the Schuylkill park. Read more
This is a rating for a lunch. The food was good, but be forewarned that the menu isn't huge, and the handful of times I've been... here it's been slow. Good if you want a drink and some apps, but not for a quick bite or broad menu. Read more
Attended a beautiful wedding at JG Domestics recently. It was on a Saturday afternoon and the venue was beautiful. It has an... incredible very of the Philadelphia skyline. The staff was very courteous, the food and drink was good. The parking wassuitable. It was also an easy setup and breakdown location. We highly recommend it, but no idea of the cost. Read more
Very convenient to train station and very nice place for lunch.
Went here to grab some drinks and appetizers with co-workers one day. Really unique selection of appetizers and drink. Was a... little pricey, but the quality was very good. Nice location as well for people taking the train out of 30th Street Station. Read more
I've had the Chef's tasting menu on numerous occasions for dinner with colleagues and have never once been 'wowed' by the food.... I'd also agree that the plates may be a tad pricey in comparison with their portion size, although they do tend to use veryunique ingredients in their dishes. The service has always been outstanding in my opinion. I'd say it's more for people who areopen to trying new things, just don't bring a large appetite with you. Read more
