Reviews for Washoe House in Petaluma, CA
If you like being overcharged for a plate of food covered in flies then this is the place for you! My server was very sweet and... attentive? but that?s where the good review for this place ends. The food was very mediocre. I got a chicken sandwich that wascompletely drowned in BBQ sauce and absolutely not worth the $20 I paid for but worse than that, the entire restaurant was?FILLED? with flies. Not only did me, my mother, and my grandmother have to continuously swat them away from our our faces andeyes but they kept landing on my food whenever I wasn?t swinging my hands to keep them away. I couldn?t even finish my sandwichbecause it was too disgusting to see them all over my food. I was told that it was normal to have flies in the restaurant (bythe staff) as ?there were a lot of ranches and farms in town?? this excuse is absolutely not except-able!! Go to any otherrestaurant in Petaluma and I guarantee you won?t see the infestation that I saw today. I genuinely hope that the restaurant seesthis review and feel ashamed for letting the situation get as bad as it is. If they?re so comfortable with that many flies inthe front of the restaurant, I can?t imagine what they?re okay with going on in the kitchen. I will forever use them as anexample of one of the worst restaurants I?ve ever been to. If I could give it negative 5 stars, I would have!!!!! Read more
We stopped here on our road trip. A fun historic bar with good cold drinks. The food looked good as well but we didnt order.
Heading back to the California Foothills after spending a few days in Bodega bay. We were really hungry and looking for some... breakfast. We happen to see the Washoe house right on the side of the road. The reviews were pretty poor but upon entering weare greeted by a nice older gentleman behind the bar and when we sat we were immediately greeted by our waitress who took drinkorders. The atmosphere is a dive bar but the tables were clean as well as the silverware and the service was polite, prompt andfriendly. I ordered eggs sausage and Country potatoes, my wife ordered the breakfast burrito with a side of hash browns and mydaughter ordered the pancake egg and bacon. All were cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot and fresh. We were so thrilledwith this experience we will absolutely make it a ritual when we're turning home from the coast. Can't say enough good thingsabout this little hole in the wall even the bathrooms were clean. Can't wait to go again. Read more
Tasty food and decent prices, a little on the high side. Amazing customer service!
Stopped here on the way home from our coastal vacation for breakfast. Upon entering the restaurant, we realized it is also a... bar. Everyone is very friendly and service was very good. The menu is simple, but still has many of the main dishes we werelooking for. I ordered the chorizo skillet and my husband order the chicken fried steak. Both meals were great and nocomplaints. The bar is very unique, it has money hanging everywhere from the ceiling. Appears to be a local favorite. Read more
I was on my way to do some video shooting on the coast of Sonoma. I was coming from Oakland, CA and unfortunately, I forgot to... eat breakfast. I told myself along the way that if I saw a spot that sold breakfast, I would go in. This happened to be thatplace. And I'm sure glad I stopped in. It has a unique atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Dollar bills are nailed to theceiling and everyone looks at you for a moment. It's a bar but also serves food. And since it seems to be the only one in thearea for a few miles, it was packed with townspeople. I bought a beacon, egg and cheese sandwich and man oh man... It wasDELICIOUS! I'm not exaggerating either. This was the best breakfast sandwich I've had since living on the west coast. I highlyrecommend stopping in if you're ever in town. Read more
We had a great lunch in a friendly place. The food was solid and the drinks were strong :)
You can't find anything more uniquely California gold rush than the Washoe House, a California landmark turned into one of the... best restaurants in Northern California. Epitomized by its rustic charm (and the thousands of dollar bills signed and tacked toits ceiling in the main room), the 'Shoe' is nothing fancy. Just lots of good food, pleasant wait staff, and a great selectionof beers and just about any cocktail you want. Read more
