My server was TERRIFIC! I sould have taken time to discover her story. Her accent made me think "Russia," and she referred to me... as "my lady." She was over and above in every way--bringing samples of soup so I could choose, making sure my "take home bag"had everything I needed to finish my leftovers (container for chili, napkins, utensils, extra crackers, all in a bag to carryeasily). I didn't ask for any of it, so her thoughtfulness and care both surprised and refreshed me. Delightful! Honestlythere's nothing special about the restaurant itself or the food other than being an oasis in the middle of a long drive.(Actually, I should have thought to ask about what sandwiches are grilled in. I'm used to real butter or olive oil, and shouldhave requested something of quality. So if someone reads this, you may want to ask about or request what you prefer.) Youshould know that the Sapp Bros. travel center in which Apple Barrel is located has a coffee called "Awake!" with extra caffeine,and their women's bathrooms are all private rooms with sinks and a bidet--a spa for your special parts! AM breakfast is my favorite, the servers and the cooks know what they're doing. My co driver and I usually never miss the... opportunity to come eat here when we head in this direction. We always get good service and the staff is friendly, alwayssomething good to eat. The food isn't as good after the morning shift change I've noticed, but still a good place to grab abite. Beats the one in Council Bluffs by miles. Read more

When it comes to trucks stop Sapp Bro never fail us. Specially when it comes to food. Save this place food was home made. That... Burnt pork was so delicious. Chicken fried steak was tasty so good. Good service. Bad food. Very very oily and flavorless. We stopped on our way from Omaha to Kansas City for a sit down... lunch. We ordered an Omelette and a Philly with spicy pickle fries- everything was VERY oily with literally oil dripping fromthe sandwich and omelette. Won?t recommend. Read more
3 Teenage girls who were the serving staff were oblivious to new customers coming in and seating themselves as no one greeted... them ir even acknowledged their presence. Sat staring at their backs for almost 10 minutes before they even glanced around thedining room. Not much of a menu unless you want breakfast, something chicken fried or a burger. I ordered the jalapenoburger, with fries and a Pepsi. It cost just under 19 buck USD. Holy Bank robbery. Bottom line I won't be back again! Wendy'sis in the next parking lot and you will get better food excellent service for half the price. Read more
I had the fried chicken salad and not only was it Huge, but the chicken was crunchy, full of taste and amazing, it had fresh... lettuce and tomatoes, eggs, and cheese and it was really great. The bread that came with it was delicious. My husband had the Country Fried Steak Stacker (fried eggs stacked on CFS/gravy stacked on hash browns with 2 pancakes) he said that he ranked itnumber 2 greatest of all times. Neither of us could finish our food - the portions are so big. I had the coconut pie and it waspretty good. The waitress was friendly and the service was great. Definitely worth the stop. Read more
I got the chef salad and the hubby got the mushroom Swiss burger. Both were fresh and delicious. The bathroom had a bidet.... Fancy. Everything is very clean here.
