Went there yesterday for lunch will never return. I ordered 1/2 chicken sandwich with creamy chicken soup. I asked for ranch on... the side waited for the server she never came back. Upon inspection of my sandwich. I thought they put blue cheese on it. Onlyto find out there was mold on my tomato slices. Finally flagged down the server that brought the food out about the moldytomatoes, and instead of apologizing, and bringing me fresh tomatoes, he took his hand and lifted off the two tomatoes that Ihad set aside off of my plate and took them. Probably because he was the cook also and didn?t want to get in trouble. He lookslike he was the cook the way he was dressed. Ridiculous behavior. Decided to just eat my soup as I was eating it I could tastelittle pouches of flavor packet powder of some sort definitely not cooked correctly. At this point I just gave up trying to eatwas going to ask to talk to the manager but saw all the reviews about what a bad manager they had and didn?t want to deal withanymore with a bad attitude. I would be very surprised if this restaurant last. Bad service bad customer service bad food allaround just really really bad. If your thinking about going don?t. Worse experience & way to expensive for what you get. Myhusband said the water was the next thing lol Read more

My fiance and I came in for breakfast this morning and I ordered fruit crepes, and took one bite and it tasted like soap and the... texture of my crepes were that of a microwaved pancake. My fiance ordered a chicken panini, and the chicken was very bland andno spices, had to take it home and season it to stand eating. For 20 dollars a sandwich I'd expect a lot better. Clearly thisplace is only in business because of the old regulars that come in everyday. Don't waste your time or money on this place. Go toMcDonald's and get a better breakfast there. Read more

Truly awful food at $$ prices. First thing we noticed as we entered was an empty desert display case and only 2 diners at 5:30... pm. Now I know why. Oh and bring cash! You will be charged a 6% fee if you pay with a credit card. Better bring a flyswater too.We had to keep napkins on our drink glasses to keep the flies off. The food quality was VERY disappointing!! Especially for theprices they are charging. Much better food available in Peoria (actually within a few blocks)for the money. Will not be back andwill recommend my friends pass it by! Read more

So 1st time my husband and I went to Sweet Basil was last weekend at the location in Skokie, Illinois when we were out of town.... We we went for breakfast before checked out of our hotel. Food was outstanding, it was all homemade and fresh ingredients. Service was over the top from the lady who came around who kept our coffees full and hot to the guy who brought out our food andkept coming back to check on if everything was cooked properly, tasted good, and if he could bring us anything else. Bestservice we ever had in years. Portions were huge. We realized that they had a location in our hometown so we decided to try outown location today. Everything was exactly as Skokie location with the exception of service. Food quality, portions all over thetop this will be one of our go to places. They do need to work on service in the Peoria location though. Only had 1 lady who hadto seat patrons, take orders, get drinks, and was supposed I'm sure was supposed to check back which was not really happening. They had another young guy who was just bringing food to tables. Service would have been better had they had the young guy helpthe older lady, but the food is so good I was willing to overlook the slowed service. Read more

This is the third brunch spot I've found in Peoria, and it's my favorite so far. Sweet Basil Cafe has an incredibly large menu,... offering everything from breakfast to dinner and drinks. It's the kind of place you can frequent every week and still find newthings to try. The food was delicious. They are HUGE portions and I had more than enough for 2 meals. They also have greatservice. The waitress came by quite a few times to ensure we had everything we needed, and refilled our drinks before we couldask for more. Our large group went in on a Saturday morning and I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of crowd. Childers isfrustratingly busy, with a long wait line, and has a meager menu compared to Sweet Basil. I strongly preferred this. I woulddefinitely come back here for brunch (and probably other meals) again. Highly recommend! Read more

Just okay... great customer service, but food wasn't that great. I ordered breakfast. Portions were too large. Pancakes were dry... and tasteless. My omelet was oversized. Not at all what I expected. I think I had a jambalaya omelet. It was weird. Read more
