Walking into True Grit, I was welcomed by a rustic atmosphere setup of decorations and furniture. At first I was skeptical about... coming in. But the reviews were correct-the food offered are so much tastier than yout bland instant brands, and are a blastfrom the past every time I eat here. Read more

EAT HERE NOW! SO FANTASTIC! We came in on a whim one Sunday, and were overjoyed at the delicious food and friendly atmosphere!... Ms. Evelyn was there to greet our family and made us feel so welcome, as we are new to the area! The service from all of thestaff was FANTASTIC, and the food was even better! The menu is small, but totally appropriate in size for a bistro that clearlytakes pride in it's dishes. The burger may have been the best I have ever had, and my husband's french toast was phenomenal aswell! I preferred the smaller menu because they were clearly experts at everything on it! This is our new favorite, and ourfamily's go to! Highly recommend, don't miss this fantastic, patriotic bistro with outstanding service and food! LOVE LOVELOVE!!!! Read more

We went today for brunch. We had 3 adults, 1 baby that needs a high chair, and a toddler. We were seated immediately, but we... were told they only had one high chair that was already being used. I asked if we could bring our stroller in, and they saidyes. So no big deal, but they really need 1 or 2 more (they only have 2 tables inside that high chairs can be used at). Weordered the picky eater off the kids menu, and I ordered a side of grits for my 2 little ones to share before we ordered ourfood. Then we ordered the breakfast tacos, breakfast bowl, and the seasonal french toast. We all ordered bottomless mimosas. Wesat near the area where they put the food that's ready, and the waitresses kept getting confused at whose food went where. Theybrought us our kids food plus a French toast off the kids menu and the shrimp and grits. We had to tell them only the pickyeater one was ours. We waited for the extra cup of grits, but we never recieved them. We then realized we had no silverware. Our waitress seemed to busy cleaning to come check on us. Finally she came and brought us silverware. Our mimosas tasted likestraight orange juice. We joked how we thought there wasn't even champagne in it. We all had three in the course of our meal, and all of them tasted the same, only orange juice. We finally got our food, my breakfast bowl was supposed to come with bacon, but it had sausage. No big deal. She changed it for me. The grits I would say were the best thing. Perfect consistency. Thefrench toast and the tacos were also good. I am breastfeeding and I have test strips to check and see how long I should waituntil I nurse again. I checked, no alcohol. I waited 30 minutes to check again, and still no alcohol in my system. Sodisappointed that we paid for mimosas and got orange juice. If there was any champagne, it was so minimal that didn't registerin my system. The food was good, service and drinks not the best. You would have thought it was their first day Read more

Found True Grit American Bistro on restaurants.com and decided while we were In Pensacola to give it a try. Great atmosphere,... clean, the high top chairs aren?t the most comfortable to sit in, and the decor is nice. My favorite thing was the corner tableset for Fallen Hero?s. The menu is simple, and has something for everyone. I chose the Bistro Mac n Cheese Back 40, my husbandhad the Bistro Mac n Cheese Big Lagoon and we had the Bread Pudding for dessert. It was a bit of a wait for our food, but intheir defense they only had one cook and one server. When we arrived all but two tables were available. With one server thatalone is a hand full no matter how experienced you are. Good size portions, but the food could of been warmer. Didn?t help thatthe plates were ice cold, and we all know cold plates make for cold food. Bread pudding was homemade (I made sure to ask)verytasty, but for $7 the piece could of been a bit bigger. Total bill for two was $40(I rounded up) I had a $15 gift certificateand they do give a 10%military discount. So our bill was just shy of $25. All in all we had a great experience. We playrestaurant baseball so all places get three swings before we strike them out. On our play card True Grit Bistro sits at 2ndbase. Read more
