Reviews for South Market in Pensacola, FL
I would give the food 5 stars, but the service and atmosphere about 2 stars. We had the smoked gouda burger, French dip, and... spinach artichoke dip...everything was delicious. I am not sure what the restaurant is missing, but it just lacks character onthe inside and it has a cold, uninviting vibe. Our waiter was apathetic and gave us the impression he was just getting throughhis shift. Not friendly or attentive. Read more
We went for a birthday dinner. We had a party of 14. My duck breast was perfect. A friend’s duck came out almost rare, was... heated up and came back out overcooked. Best portion for the value was the steak, which came out to the table more on the coldside. Most of the table’s food came out less than warm. Presentation was nice, though. Great view, beautiful building, nicestaff, but not sure it’s the best idea for large groups. Read more
Nice restaurant overall. We arrived at 1030am on a Sunday, and at that time it wasn't overly crowded. During our visit, it... quickly filled up. Staff was polite but nothing extra. It took over 10 minutes to get greeted or even acknowledged whenentering the restaurant and waiting on a table. Several staff members saw us enter and wait to be addressed. Some even came tothe front area but didn't even say a word as they walked away. I guess it was someone else's problem. The water glasses at ourtable had more than a reasonable amount of spots on them. It is unappealing when wait staff touches the rim of the glass thatthey expect you to drink from. Food was good. I had the shrimp and grits which was tasty. I was a little disappointed onpresentation. (NOT exactly what I expected but it was good.) The restaurant is at a great location and beautifully decorated.Unfortunately when it starts to fill up with people, it is a SERIOUS struggle to maintain a conversation because it is EXTREMELYloud. It was difficult to understand people at our own table due to everyone speaking louder and typical dining noises. It'salmost unreasonable. Just frustrating when you plan a brunch to catch up or celebrate and you can't even hear people at your owntable. Undecided if we'd return. Just overall not that impressed. Read more
Great views! Great food! Bottomless and probably the best mimosas I've ever had! And the waitress Calan was amazing! We will... definitely return! Read more
I'll start by saying the service was good. They were friendly. That was probably the best part. I know they just recently... moved to the location and so the food was ok considering. The spinach and artichoke dip was our favorite part. It wasdifferent than other dips we have had and was pretty good. The chips though were ehh. Some had a crunch and others feltsofter. The mushroom burger was super dry - no sauce of any kind and the bun was over toasted. My husband asked for ranch andit ended up being oddly salty. The chicken piccata was better. The chicken was super thick, and overall salty, but it wasn'tbad. The kids' chicken quesadilla wasn't a big hit for my little one. It was the same chunky chicken that took a while for herto chew. This was our first time to eat here. It was amazing. The cocktails were great. I had the fish tacos, and my husband had the crab... stuffed redfish. Creme brûlée was superb. Our waitress, Gina, was super attentive, professional, and such a sweet person. Wewill be back. Read more
Bruh. The service ???? lol so they made us wait an hour for a table that we stood next to, empty, for that entire hour. Then... they sat us down and we were like really bro. ???? And we had a nice view of the dumpster. Our glasses repeatedly came out withfood on them. It’s a tad overpriced and not worth the difference in my opinion. I couldn’t even drink the water it tastedstraight out of the dish pit. Refills took awhile. The DP had no carbonation. The sweet tea was just sugar water with too muchsugar. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad was fine but there was way too much bread- I’d keep it to acroissant or crackers. The potatoes were well seasoned but had no crunch. The waffles were incredibly but make sure you’re inthe mood for sweets! They are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside and the whipped cream was fresh. The fish tacos weregood but the salsa was just okay. Biscuits and gravy was good. Overall, I’d say you’re better off elsewhere bc of theservice and the wait time when they could have sat us the entire time. Read more
Excellent food, service, wait staff and Executive Chef! I ordered the shrimp and grits. Usually they are either very bland or... they are overseasoned. These were perfect! The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the sauce was so flavorful. We started withthe baked oysters on the half shell, and they too were done to perfection. My husband had the smoked gouda burger and loved it.The view of the water added to the overall ambience. I wish I could give it 10 stars. Just go, you won't be disappointed. Read more
