To me, the best part of this restaurant is the building and atmosphere. The customer service is decent, but the waiter we had... wasn't really attentive. Our waiter probably came to our table 4 times while we were there for approximately an hour and a half.Once to bring the table chips out, the food out, refill our drinks once, and to bring us the check. I point that out as I had tocall two different people to either refill chips and or bring a different type of salsa. Unfortunately, the food wasn't good.The beans were runny and tasted watery, and my chimichanga had way too much cheddar cheese to the point it didn't even tastelike Mexican food. We are staying at a hotel nearby and someone at the front desk recommended this place. We were greeted by the friendliest... people. Someone came to our table immediately and got us drinks and while they were doing that to other people, I thinkmanagers, came by to check on us. Our waiter Maximo was terrific. What a wonderful experience. The staff here were incredible, and that's saying the very least. We were acknowledged and served... in a timely fashion and checked in with frequently without it being obtrusive. We sat near the bar and were served by theincredible bartender/server and we had the pleasure of speaking with the manager (maybe also the owner?). The food was deliciousand the beer was refreshing. Traveling through Birmingham and with the strong recommendations, we gave Margarita Grill a try. 9pm on Thursday and the place... was busy, so our expectations of a good meal were elevated. Sadly, we were very disappointed. The ?kid?s pizza? was nothingshort of a little tomato sauce and melted cheese on bread. (Yeah, my daughter always gets cheese quesadillas but she wasn?t inthe mood? life lesson: don?t order pizza at a Mexican restaurant). Grilled chicken nachos appetizer (to split) except 1) thechicken was obviously grilled but otherwise lacked seasoning and was in 1? chunks, 2) the toppings were segregated to differentarea of the chips (tomatoes on one side, the almost melted shredded cheese on another area, and sour cream in the middle) and 3)it wasn?t good. Beef taco a la carte was very bland. The shell was crunchy and I loved the cheese but the ground beef lackedflavor and was very greasy. Service was quick and food came out in short order, but after that, there was not much attention orservice. I had high hopes which quickly turned to dismay and disbelief. Prices were fairly expensive and didn?t deliver ashoped. All in all, our evening meal was very disappointing. I feel very sad for others that said this was the ?best Mexicanfood ever tasted.? Excellent, and fast service. Quality recommendations, and Ed even brought me a chopped fresh jalapeno, to spice my meal up a... bit. The Brochetas were a decadent treat (large shrimp, wrapped in bacon). The chicken soup, at the beginning of the meal, wasgood too. Read more
In the sound of Janice from FRIENDS? OH MY GOSHHHH. The BEST Mexican cuisine we have ever had. Everything from the environment,... staff and food was amazing! Our server was Juan. He was so delightful to talk to & a great server! Our food was so flavorful,the perfect blend of spices, so fresh and well plated! We would travel 4 hours to dine here again! We even got a shirt!!! Wish I could recommend this place but I just can't. I asked the waitress if the Salsa Verde was spicy and she said "Not at all!"... Well I'm apparently a delicate flower because I just couldn't eat it. It wasn't a sharp burn but there was a burn. Would haverequested something different but no one checked on us after the food came. On a positive note everyone seemed to like theirdrinks. Read more
