What a great place! We have a large group in town for a conference staying at a nearby hotel. We ended up going to the log house... because the restaurant in our hotel was booked up, and I'm am I ever glad we did! As soon as we arrived we were told that theywere short-staffed and they have trouble accommodating us but after about 5 minutes of organizing they sat our group of eightdown. But the food. The food. I can't believe how good it was. I myself had the panko crested halibut and it was amazing. Someother diners in our group got the steak and prawns and it was the best looking steak and prawns I had ever seen in my life. Thediners also said they were incredible. Visiting from the lower mainland for my birthday. We really enjoyed our time here. The food was fresh and tasty. Despite being... busy we didn't have to wait too long between courses. Our waitress and wait staff were great. We had taken a taxi and werewaiting for our pick up outside when a staff offered to take us if we hadn't got our ride when he came back from his errand. Theoffer was nice but our cab was there two minutes later. We will definitely come back next time we're in Parksville, but comefor Prime Rib Friday. Read more
I just celebrated my 65th birthday, my first ever dining experience at Kalvas, and have to say it couldn?t have been better. I... had the New York steak which was prepared perfectly, absolutely delicious. I had the apple crumble for dessert which was homemade, also to perfection. Visiting from Vancouver and saw some recommendations to dine at Kalvas. I?m glad I listened. The restaurant has signs in the... front apologizing for being short staffed and advised there may be wait times - but we never experienced any waits. In fact, allwe experienced was hardworking, friendly staff moving quickly from table to table to ensure we all had what we wanted. We camefor the prime rib Friday special and it did not disappoint. We also loved the shrimp cocktail - it is a must eat. We will beback for more soon, especially if David and the rest of the staff is still around. Thank you David for taking such good care ofus. Amazing experience! We were able to get a last minute reservation for 2. Professional greeting and staff. Waitress refilled... drinks and food was amazing. Steak was cooked perfectly and seafood was fresh. Well seasoned everything. The balsamic/olive oilreduction with the fresh bread is out of this world. Price was super reasonable, much more affordable than a place like the kegand also way better quality. My only regret is I did not leave a bigger tip. Top quality food during our getaway. We ordered the Salmon and NY Striploin & Prawns for dinner. The Salmon was well cooked... (moist!!) With the pilaf and creamed leeks being perfectly seasoned. Steak was done exactly as ordered with medium, and prawnswere not overdone. Highly recommend, but also make sure to make a reservation as they're always busy and wait times can belong. Read more
Went here for the first time with my husband and mother-in-law. Hanna was our server and she gave us an exceptional service! We... had some oyster, the steak special and some cheesecake. The steak I hope have the sauce on side so we can just dip the puddingin it. Aside from that, everything was great! Recently went here for a birthday dinner and we were very impressed! I had lobster tail, hubby had steak...both were cooked to... perfection and the veggies weren't the tired old carrots and green beans! Caesar Salad was so good...that's often my test!
