I?ve been around, I?ve eaten some ribs in all the rib places; Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, and my fair share of BBQ... competitions. I?m here to say that the ribs at City Barbecue in Park Ridge were Outstanding and definitely created by a pitBOSS. These ribs tasted great, nice rub; not to much brown sugar, seasonings worked well together. The smoke was perfect; notoverpowering; present with a great aftertaste. Mix that with the rub and it?s was a winner, a mean blue ribbon and a hugetrophy. The Beans, very good; again not over-sugared; I tasted some brown sugar but didn?t taste any molasses, they had goodcolor, consistency, and flavor, a perfect amount of brisket in them; and not fatty scraps either, nice tasty pieces of goodmeat. Fresh cut fries: on time! I ordered some cheese for the fries and I love they take the time to provide the same typequality on the things down menu as the headliners. This wasn?t some nacho cheese out of a bag; someone worked on that recipe,white and yellow cheddar for sure. The Texas toast was just as on par with then rest of the meal. Finally the cake, the CAKE! So good, so so good; order the cake first; then the ribs. This is some competition food, and I am lucky to have had such agreat meal there. Really wanted this place to be good, Brisket was a day old, no flavor and dry, pulled pork was blah and ribs were decent at... best. Chicken was surprisingly good though. As for the sides I got, the mac and cheese that had zero flavor and was probably aday old and the collard greens were dry. Cornbread was overcooked and dry as well. The restaurant was clean. The staff was very kind and helpful. I loved my salad! My husband's meat sampler was so delish! The... brisket was to die for, the pulled pork was amazing and they have an array of tasty barbecue sauces you can choose from! We alsohad some of the cornbread, and peach cobbler and Mac and cheese! So good! Everything here was so good, even the desserts! Everything was delicious. You know I was nervous about ordering from... here. You're always a little nervous when ordering from a place for the first time especially if it's a little bit expensive.But let me tell you we were pleasantly surprised. Everything was phenomenal, including the desserts. The banana pudding and thepeach cobbler were phenomenal! Loved the spicy Nashville chicken strips. They use really high quality ingredients here, freshcut fries, real cheddar cheese, batter on the chicken strips was crispy and delicious. Sauces were good. Everything was onpoint. We ordered for dine-in and ate on the patio. The ordering experience was easy, and friendly. I told the cashier it was our first... time there, and he explained things and pointed a few things out. In fact, I asked what he recommended as a first order, if theLolo's pulled pork would be a good choice, and he said yes, explaining the flavors a bit more in detail. Then I asked whichsauce would go well with that, and that I like sweet, and he agreed it'd be a good mix. And it was! I hardly stopped once Istarted eating it, and the side of cornbread I got was a good size, and really tasty. I also ordered some kids plates, whichwere more than enough food but not overly pricey. The chicken nuggets are more of a chicken tender, with crisp, flavorful, butnot spicy breading. It was juicy on the inside and came with a small cup of extra-long mac n'cheese as the side we picked, and adrink (apple juice, milk, etc). They brought the food out to us, and the server was super friendly, joking with the kids alittle, and made us feel not just welcome, but like coming back again soon! Sampler. 3 ribs were tender with a nice Smokey taste, but meat was sparse and too fatty. Pork loin was very long, stringy, dry.... Optional sauce side tasted like it came from a can. Bread was tasteless. Cole slaw was bland like the whole meal. Cost; $17before tax. Back to Chipotle pork burrito bowl for me. Read more
