This review is for Mariposa?s tasting menu on a Friday in March 2022. No pairings. Pros: - Excellent service - Meats were... properly cooked Cons: - Most of the dishes were extremely salty. One of them was a truffle tart, which seemed good otherwisebut I deemed it inedible because of over seasoning. - Some of the dry food items (as opposed to soups or broth) were cold, as innot warm. This is unacceptable, as we visited with an early reservation and the restaurant was not busy - Ordered a bottle ofwine (a Sancerre) that the restaurant did not have. Since Mariposa does not offer an extensive wine list, one would at leastexpect that it would be fully stocked with the wine list. - Poor style and décor: Food styling was a bit old fashioned, foodcould be more visually appealing with some more modern changes. For the restaurant itself, it would feel more pleasant with somenew china, shades and décor in general. This can be achieved while keeping its signature cozy-lodge feel. Though Utah is notknown for its culinary scene, I had expected better from Mariposa. And definitely much higher quality for fine-dining prices(6-course pre-fix dinner x 2, 1 bottle of wine, 1 beer, 1 extra course, +tax & tip = $500) Read more

The appetizers specifically the tuna and the mushroom were very good. My entrée was Awful though. The filet was $65 and there... was a funny smell and an odd texture to it. Filet mignon is usually tender and soft. This fillet was very dense and in additionto the odd smell it just wasn?t anywhere close as good to say a filet from Omaha steaks. The two sides were also bad ? thepotato concoction had so much salt on it that they must?ve been hiding something. And the roasted carrots were not reallyroasted it seemed. it seemed like they tried to make them seem roasted with some spices but they weren?t really edible. Ohthe bread was good but you have to pay eight dollars for it. The bottom line is they make it seem like you are at Danielle butthe food isn?t up to that standard even though the price is right up there with Danielle. I can?t get the filet smell andtexture out of my brain Read more

A really great experience. The food is sourced both locally and internationally through a very curated list of perveyors. That... means the best of everything. Had a small misstep in timing between the kitchen and our server that caused a bit if confusion.Otherwise, would be 5 star. Read more

Was exited they had a vegan menu! Soup and cauliflower were both excellent. Not the typical ambience I would go for (lodge,... old school) but food and service were both great. Read more

We used to love this restaurant. Went last night with high expectations. They took us to a third floor - which I never new... existed, and was small and dark. The only other guest were a large group with a baby, but we were still seated at a table jammedinto the corner. The highlight of the event was a wasp flying into our daughter?s hair. We leapt up to get the wasp out of herhair and kill it. As this was happening, they arrived with our food. Even with the large dead wasp in napkin on the table nextto us, the staff didn?t really react. We had lost our appetite by then. We finally mentioned to our waiter that we thought it abit odd that the manager hadn?t shown any concern. She came up awhile later, and offered to comp our daughter?s meal. Still, noone ever said they were sorry that It had happened, showed concern or acknowledged that it was a strange and upsettingexperience. We looked for wasps the rest of the evening! Will never go back. There are many, many choices for excellent food inPark City. Read more

This restaurant is simply amazing. My wife and I travel a lot together for work and we always make a point to seek out the best... places in the cities we visit for fine food and drink. We visited Mariposa and it more than exceeded our expectations. Thisrestaurant has a charming and intimate setting inside the Silver Lake Lodge. The restaurant combines a fine ski lodge diningexperience with a quaint ?locals only? feel. The restaurant staff it?s professional from the woman who greeted and sat us toour server who was spectacular. What sets this place apart from other fine restaurants I have visited is the combination ofdelicious and innovative courses with an extremely well curated wine list. I was extremely impressed with the wine selectionboth by the bottle and by the glass. The person who created this list is extremely knowledgeable in both old world and newworld wines as the wines they were offering by the glass were wines I have purchased for my own cellar. Some restaurants skimpon the wines hoping you will just pick expensive choices but this restaurant combined extremely good value for money and theoption for both 3 ounce and 6 ounce pours via their Coravin system. My wife and I started with champagne and ended with a 2013Spottswoode Napa Cab- one of the best vintages in Napa of all time and a 99 point wine. What made our experience most specialwas our server Juiliane (please correct me if wrong and I will correct it). She was first rate and paired our favorite courseswith the perfect wine. Our two favorite courses, recommended by the server, was the Foie Gras and waffle and the cauliflower. The foie gras was out of this world and was severed with the most unique waffle I have ever tried. This is a must not miss evenif you are not a Foie Gras fan. Be sure to try with a glass of Sauternes with it like we did. The cauliflower was alsospectacular. It is not something you would typically order as a stand alone course but I am glad we did. Went for the end of season Spring prix fixe dinner. Really enjoyed the food, but felt we were a bit rushed. Didn?t feel we had... time to savor each course and paired wine before the next course came. The explanation of each course and the wine was a bitlacking. In top restaurants I have dined around the world, the wait person would take pride in describing each course and wouldalways bring the bottle to show the label and describe the wine. This is an area for improvement it the restaurant wants toachieve top rating. Read more
