Reviews for Lily Queen Chinese Restaurant in Paris, TX
Lily Queen is authentic Chinese. Don't get buffet, order fresh off the menu. Don't worry about service, don't worry about the... look, shut up and eat the MSG! Read more
Very disappointed. I should of read the reviews before ordering from here. To start off I?m pescatarian and a truck driver. It?s... hard enough as is for me to find food options. I ordered the shrimp lo mein with white rice and a shrimp egg roll. The lo meinwas watery as hell and somehow tasted burnt. My $2 rice was soooo tiny. A baby could of eaten the whole thing. No joke. The bestpart about my whole meal was the shrimp egg roll. I threw the rest of the food out. That?s how unsatisfied I was. Wasted almost$20 on disgusting food. If I could give you no stars, I would. The Good: Great hot and sour soup, definitely the best I?ve had in Paris and the surrounding area. The sesame chicken was very... good as well. The Bad: The restaurant is dirty. The owners take no pride in the appearance of their restaurant. I would neverdine in. Honestly nervous about food quality of take out but try not to think about it. Portion sizes are way too small. A sideof rice wouldn?t fill up half a 16 oz water bottle. It?s rice and cost practically nothing to make. Sad. Portion sizes onentrees are also small. Prices are high for portion sizes. Overall: Will not order an actual meal from here again. I mightorder a soup but even the small portion of that is 4.95 for not even 12oz of soup. The portions are terrible and that will causethis restaurant to lose business and eventually fail. My Advice: Clean up your restaurant. Show that you care about theappearance. It doesn?t need to be new, modern and fresh but it does need to be clean. Stop putting take out orders in old boxes. It?s unprofessional and unsanitary. Increase your portion sizes even if that means you need to up your prices. Although yourprices are already high I would rather get a good portion and pay a little extra instead of still being hungry after eating anappetizer and ?entree? size sesame chicken. Other restaurants in the area compete with your prices and give much largerportions. You know how to make great food which is the hard part. Don?t let your business fail over fundamentals. Read more
I've been a fan of Lilly Queen since I was in high school, roughly back to 1998. I've also compared chinese food in China Town... New York, China Town LA, Chicago's China Town, and Boston's and Seattle's asian districts. I grew up here in Paris Texas andhave always known that China Star is "the place" to eat Chinese food. But I was never impressed with them (I'm fairly picky). Itisn't "bad" food, just not excellently home-cooked Chinese recipes. The family that owns Lilly Queen is friendly and keep theirfood authentic, though remain mindful of how Americans like their "Chinese" food. Their traditional dishes like Beef/Broccoli,Mongolian Beef, House Fried Rice, Seafood Delight, and Sesame Chicken will be the best in Lamar County. If you wantOVER-Americanized dishes, then the Panda Express chain is your best bet. If you want decent food with a buffet I'd suggestGolden China over China Star. China Star is just what folks in this town are "used to" having. But it is actually pretty poorfood, in the grand scheme of things. Lilly Queen used to have a buffet, but no longer do. As other reviews have mentioned, theatmosphere is not classy. However, again, if you've visited ANY major China Town in the US, from New York to LA, you'll knowwhat I mean when I say "this place has an authentic, home-style, traditional, Chinese atmosphere." lol. It's like a snapshot ofa Chinese market area. This is what a good Chinese restaurant is SUPPOSED to look like (kinda crummy, dingy, stale, musky,dark/dim, etc.) My partner is also of Chinese decent and Lilly Queen is the only place in Paris he wants Chinese from. Now ifwe can just get a good Indian place in town, we'd be set! R. Read more
I travel a lot. I've eaten at Chinese restaurants from sea to shining sea. Of all of the Chinese restaurants I've eaten at in my... lifetime, Lily Queen is the absolute best tasting. The quality of food is spectacular, especially if you order from the menu. Icompletely recommend this restaurant to any local or traveler. The only negative thing I can possibly say about the restaurantis the actual environment. It's in a shoddy neighborhood and the building could use a little paint. However, do not let thisdeter you from your trip there. Read more
