They had me sit down at a table that had not been wiped cleaned after the last party had left. Had to ask the waiter who was... nice enough to wipe it clean. Lady had to ask me again what I ordered couple minutes later to place my order. Low ratingbecause of the sanitation. Menu was sticky and gross. Went to use the restroom after and it?s filled with dish soap. Food wasaverage, ordered the pork roll banh mi and the bread was covered in grease. Came on a Sunday night at 8PM. They were very short staffed, seemed to be only three people running the entire floor including... takeout. Their business could use an extra hand and is running inefficiently. The bar counter is about 20 feet long, but onlyseats two people. The high top tables by the bar should be regular tables and chairs instead to optimize space and prevent beingmissed by the waiters like us. The food is good value for the prices you are paying, but I am willing to pay a little more forbetter quality. The service needed to be flagged down for water, to take the order, and to pay for the check. With the rightchanges, they can easily excel. Read more
Took my friend from out of town to this lovely little spot in Palo Alto. The service was quick! I had the chicken pho and it was... just so light and delicious! Tony kept our water glasses full and offered great suggestions on the menu. He was super sweet andhelpful! Would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. Read more

I am so glad that a Banh Mi joint exists in University Avenue. We all know how high the rent and commercial real estate prices... may be on this street, which naturally leads to "nicer" places. But sometimes, you just want a hearty sandwich... and PBM (PhoBanh Mi) does just that. The baguette is perfectly toasted in butter and is sweet, savory, crisp and soft all at the same time.You marry this with great tasting meat (I had grilled pork) and a healthy amount of veggies (pickled radish, carrot, jalapenos,coriander, etc.) with lots of love and care and that is what you get at PBM. It's not the best banh mi I've tasted in the BayArea, but considering the price, quality, and the service you get (the owners are super nice), this is a smashing 5-stars. Ordered the Papaya salad and it was absolutely delicious unlike anything I?ve ever had at any bay area restaurant. Extremely... clean flavors that was very refreshing and not overpowering with nice hints of lime and basil. Maybe not quite traditional sincethe fish sauce was very light but I found it was absolutely delicious. Also ordered a bowl of their signature pho which isn?tquite as delicious since it cooled down during delivery. Pho broth still had quite good flavor and I love they provide all theaccoutrements without asking including basil, chilis, sriracha, oyster sauce, limes, etc. Good portion sizes and reasonableprices.
