Never been here before, my first time and I chose the original Las Casuelas over the newer ones because Frank Sinatra ate there.... The place was a little small and the seating was uncomfortable. When I was looking at the menu the server was a bit annoying andkept asking "Are you ready to order?" I ordered the combination plate #5 and my friend ordered combination #1, it was so muchfood I had to take half of my food to go. Overall the service was good, the food was delicious, the price is a bit high but theportions make up for it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants Mexican food. And definitely go for the historic significanceof the restaurant but if you want nice ambiance and better seating go down the block to Las Casuelas Terraza. Read more

We?ve been visiting here for 40 years since we were married in 1982. We went to California in August 2022, we stopped here for... lunch. We were so excited! Can?t tell you how disappointed we both were at the service and the food. The sauce was terrible, like they opened a can of Las Palmas sauce and poured it on top. Sooooo ?TASTELESS?! I ate part of the tamale and left the restof the entire plate of food. I could not even eat it! The waitress NEVER smiled and we had to ask them to turn the misters onoutside because of the 115 degree heat. Shouldn?t have even had to ask! The hostess did come out and pour a little bowl of waterfor the dogs which was nice. However, we asked for more water for ourselves, we had to wait forever ?in the heat? and then myhusband had to get up and open the door and ask the hostess for more water. The waitress took way too long to come outside toask us if we needed anything. Then the hostess brought the water and poured it in our glasses from the same pitcher she used forthe dogs bowl! Not going back. Read more

The best Mexican food! I had a single taco. Fantastic service as well! My friends had enchiladas. We sat on the patio and... watched people go by. Great historic little restaurant, around since 1958. Love this place! Read more

Got the grilled chicken tacos. ????Huge portion. Only ate one. Haha. Tasted super amazing. Wonderful flavor. Guac and sides????... were great. Fresh off the grill, was super hot. Wrapped up also. The service was a tiny bit slow. Didn?t replenish our chips andsalsa. But that?s ok! The salsa also only came in one bowl. Not conducive to easy access and dipping for the whole table. Alsogross for germs if you?re not with your family lol. But the vibes were good and the food was great. Crevice tasted very fishy????but people like that (I don?t) but it was wonderful overall! ???? They start you off with chips and salsa. I had the house Margarita which was descent. The food portions were big, we got steak... taco plate and fish taco plate. We had to box up half of each. Giving a 4 star because once the waiter served us food, he nevercame back. No water refill or checked in on us? still gave 18% tip. Read more

The Original Las Casuelas (a few blocks up the street from the popular, much larger, attractive Las Casuelas Terraza) is a... long-time favorite spot for locals. It has the same excellent food and margaritas in an unassuming indoor space with classicbooths inside and narrow sidewalk dining in front. The service by the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. You won't bedisappointed! Read more
