Reviews for City Wok in Palm Desert, CA
This restaurant was excellent when it first opened in Palm Desert. We just ordered dinner and it was definitely old food. Not... at all fresh and completely different from the quality when they first opened here. Really sorry quality has changed so muchfor the worse. Hope they can return to what it once was. Read more
The best Chinese restaurant we've found in the desert. Still leaves much to be desired. I do miss all the wonderful Chinese ... restaurants in San Francisco and L.A. The food is better than all the other places we've tried here. Service is quite good, especially when the owner/manager is there, which is most evenings. Read more
Best wonton soup I?ve ever had. And the sweet and sour chicken is delicious. They give big portion sizes. I think this is better... than PF Changs. Read more
Great value, the staff is hustling hard but super swamped. Great happy hour, probably need to raise prices and make sure the... menu prices match happy hour pricing too. Read more
This open-air bar and Chinese eatery Service fresh food and great happy hour specials. I had their firecracker chicken. It was... nice and spicy. And it did not make me feel weighed down like other Chinese restaurants do. Read more

We frequented the former PD location on CC for years and tried the new (mall) location for dinner this evening. Same great food... we've always enjoyed, same outstanding service. Ambiance is very pleasing, better outdoor dining than the formerlocation. Inside was smaller than we expected. NOISY to the point we had a very difficult time communicating with our serverthroughout our visit. I will say there was a big group close to us who left after we'd been there, and all we would think of ishow noisy it's going to be in season. That was a major disappointment to us. The mall parking lot was far more congested thanwe had expected for 4pm out of season. We were seated near the mall entrance glass wall, and it was enjoyable people watchingduring our visit. In all honesty we are pretty disappointed in this new location. We kept an open mind through out our visit, and did have an enjoyable walk through the mall after dinner. I'm sure we will be back, but this location falls short of ourdining expectations which is difficult to admit as much as we enjoyed the former location. It is worth a try to draw your ownconclusion. This is probably one of the best, if not the best, Chinese restaurants I've been to in the desert. Not only is the food... reasonably-priced & delicious, but their customer service is spectacular! I ordered a soup & choked on a tiny, sharp piece ofmetal, and when I asked the waiter what the metal piece was, he brought out the chef who, by the way, apologized to me & dideverything he could to reinstate the restaurant's reputation; I wasn't charged for the order, was given a free entrée, and evengot a discount on the total value of the orders. I've never been to a restaurant that did this much as an apology, and it wastruly an honest mistake; the piece of metal was a fragment from a metallic sponge ? no one could've known. Read more
