I want to give a shout out to the Taste of India. The place is clean and bright and the staff was so nice to us. They started by... asking if the music was too loud and we?re kind about turning it down for us. And the food was very tasty I. I had the saagpaneer which was spicy but not too hot. We also had vegetable samosas for appetizers that were delicious with tandoori andtamarind sauces. Others for dinner had the buttery goat, which was unusual, and very tasty. We also had lots of the breadsincluding garlic naan, papadum, and whole wheat roti. All were delicious. This is the best Indian restaurant we have found onthe Monterey Peninsula. Read more

Ok, so I want to start by saying that I am a monterey local, and have tried many different Indian restaurants in the area and... this is by far the BEST I've had, not even just locally. Granted I've also worked in the food service industry and know that noteverything is perfect all the times, HOWEVER this place has always been DELICIOUS. From the chicken, to the lamb, paneer,samosas, nann and MORE. It isnt always perfect, but that's life in a fast paced food environment and I know every time I havetold them, they have corrected it on site, and I've only had to mention it twice for minute issues that were fixed IMMEDIATELY. So anyone who has complaints, I can guarantee that they didn't mention it up front or check their order before they left or evenmade their comment or review. With that being said, ive been here several times and truly adore their flavor profiles andcustomer service; I think that there was only one time (compared to the dozens of times we have been here) when my dad tried tocall in an order and a younger gentleman had an additude and was not very understanding of my eldery father but I truly think itwas just some miss communications on both parts, however we were still happy with our pick up and our food. I frequently orderIndian because it is my favorite and this place usually goes above and beyond, even with my excessive requests for extra mintcilantro chutney lol. Everything was very good. Food was a little different than what I was expecting. Sauces was very watery but with lots of flavor.... I?m use to thicker sauces. Nonetheless, everything had all the flavors I was looking forward too. Read more

This place had awesome reviews so we decided to order to go while visiting monterey. The tandoori mix grill was a waste of our... money. It was a mixture of 2 types of chicken, shrimp and lamb. The chicken was overly cooked and dry. You couldn't even chewit without your jaws starting to hurt. And we only got 3 small pieces of lamb which was dry and over cooked and only 4 pieces ofshrimp which was ok. The cost for this was $20.....big rip-off. We ended up throwing it away. We also ordered chicken tikkawhich was had a sweet taste when its suppose to be spiced. The lamb curry had a weird taste and smell. Like they used oldmeat. The rice was dry and hard. Definitely not made fresh that day. We asked for side of chillies and onions and got chargedfor that when its supposed to be included in our order. Do not recommend this place.
