Don't let the low star reviews from the opening month sway you. General Chow has corrected itself and is a great option to meet... your dumpling fix. Seating was quick and service was friendly and knowledgeable. Our waiter Dan, did a great job. Giving usenough time to peruse the menu and then providing additional info for our first time visit. This was counter to many of theearly service reviews we had read. Whatever issues the wait staff had early on have been corrected. Food review is mixed. WhileI have to agree with other reviews that some of the food was a little on the bland side; we were able to find a few items thatwere full of flavor. Specifically, the pork and kimchee dumpling. It had a touch of kick and hit all the right notes. Also thepad thai was not a disappointment. We tried 4 of the dumplings on the list. The broth dumplings were also good, and favorites ofthe kids. However the others were not memorable. Nor was the chicken fried rice. Overall I was pleasantly surprised withGeneral Chow and will be looking for another opportunity to try some more from this menu. Attentive and friendly service. Delicious food, but some dishes not served as hot as you would hope, especially the dumplings.... For larger parties, the large round tables could use a "lazy Susan" to aid in sharing all of the family-style dishes. Read more
They serve family style, which is always fun, the food is decent, but I was annoyed with their online ordering. When I tried to... tell them there was a problem they argued with me until they finally realized there really was a problem with their onlineordering system. I HATE when they argue with the customer! Especially when it's not deserved, I was just trying to help. Iwanted to order online. Now I won't go back EVER because this is an example of their customer service. They blamed me saying Iprobably wasn't using the site right instead of addressing it and looking it into it themselves to see that it wasn't me at all!Bad customer service. Bad bad bad. Read more
I've never written a restaurant review before--but I felt compelled to here. Nine of us went here last Friday to celebrate an... event. The food was great; the prices were quite reasonable ($250 for 9, with drinks, appetizers, etc.) But what really madethe difference was the service. Our young man, Jake, was unfailingly polite, prompt, and on the spot. He did EVERYTHING right. Ihad him send the manager over just so that I could tell him how impressed I was...and the manager told me that it was the kid'sfirst service job. Hard to believe--he was a real pro. Great food and reasonable prices for the quality. Noodles are made by hand, not bought. Staff stands around while other workers... look like they need help or a break.
