I found this place because of Google Maps. Never heard about it till I discovered it here. We rode our motorcycles 200 miles... just to have lunch, and 100% will be doing it more! Soon as you walk in, you'll be transported back in time with your corememories as soon as you take a deep breath. Instantly you're sitting on your grandmother's lap as a kid helping her snap peasand watching Hee Haw or Andy Griffith or The Country Boy Eddie Show. Our waitress was phenomenal and brought us out some of thebest tasting ice tea. We each couldn't believe the menu with the good "old southern" recipes and decided to try differentthings. From the first bite, you can taste everything was done from scratch. The pot roast was by far not hurriedly cooked, my friends nearly went into food comas from their chicken livers and liver and onions. Of course we had to have dessert. Oldstyle baked marange on top was amazing, I had not tasted that since my grandmother passed away. I was blessed to have met theowner and got a big hug from her. Her cooking literally brought me to tears, I felt like I was back home, at my Grans house, and seeing her smiling at me again. This place isn't just culinary greatness, it's amazing memories in each bite. As someonewho has gotten their Bachelors in Culinary Arts, this place should be noticed by the Mechelin Guide To Restaurants. Read more

Seriously the best breakfast in Huntsville and SO CHEAP especially compared to everywhere else. This is what Cracker Barrel... attempts to be. Unfortunately do not have my grandmother anymore, but it really is like her cooking. Everything is scratch madeto my knowledge, and pretty much everything they use is grown right there on the property! You won't be disappointed. Read more

Charming, older, quaint restaurant. Literally feels as though you?re visiting your grandmothers house, super cute! Customer... service is outstanding. Everyone is so kind and helpful, very accommodating. Menu is limited which is not a bad thing ? one canfind something on the menu! Food is tasty, good portions too! A bit on the salty side for my taste, but those are MY tastebuds! :) I didn?t grow up in the south ? I?m slowly trying out various southern dishes. I?ve been working from home and due tothe pandemic, stuck at home, but I feel comfortable in this setting (during mask mandate and after). Definitely worth visiting!! Prices are reasonable and again, customer service outstanding. <3 Read more

After experimenting a great deal more with other meat and threes, I have to say that Grandmother's House is quite good. Much of... the pleasure of this restaurant comes from the atmosphere and the service. It's definitely cool that the owner of the place, and the usual chef, was born in the front room. It's fun to go out and see the chickens and the vegetables if it's growingseason. The service consists of the owner, Wenona's, family members, along with a couple of regulars turned part-time help. It's clear they all love the place and the food. Real southern hospitality -- if such a thing truly exists -- lives here! Thefood is also good. I personally believe the quality went down and the price went up a bit after everyone caught wind that Wenonahad performed on Chopped. It's a shame, but it's still worth a visit. I would recommend the chicken tenders. They don'treally "do" fried chicken here, but the tenders are close enough and always very delicious. Grandmother's House also makes someof my favorite mashed potatoes. Always the perfect amount of chunks and big pieces of potatoes! Desserts usually aren't worthit to me, but if you must go for it, go for the lemon icebox pie. Tart and refreshing. I would definitely recommendGrandmother's House if you're looking for a nice country drive, homestyle cooking, and charming service. Read more

Definitely worth checking out if you've never been. The menu changes and they may run out of your favorite side item, but the... food is good. It's literally an old house where "Grandmother" used to live. Pretty neat. We tried the meatloaf, chicken tenders, chicken fried chicken, and chicken & dressing. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Read more
