This place had arguably the best egg rolls I have ever had. My partner absolutely loved the sushi too. We didn't have an... opportunity to try the hibachi on our first visit but the food and atmosphere was so spectacular we definitely intend to go backagain soon. EDIT: We've been back several times and were able to try the hibachi which was quite the experience! We stillusually sit at the sushi bar though. We seriously can't get enough of this place, it's quickly become one of our new favorites. Read more

Tried their hibachi for the first time to celebrate a birthday. We made a reservation, they sat us immediately upon arrival. Our... server was friendly and quick, and I like that he told us about the 20% gratuity up front. The soup and salad came out fast andit tasted good. The chef was fantastic!! He was engaging and very funny. He made sure we had a great time!! We had theFirecracker sushi roll, shrimp hibachi and crab Rangoon. It was all delicious. The habachi food was seasoned well, the ricecould have cooked a little longer but didn't ruin the meal. The sushi roll was good and not too spicy. The crab Rangoon wasperfect, packed with filling, perfectly crispy, with good sweet and sour. I will be back!! Read more

I went here two other times before now and the food was good. The last two times I?ve gone the food hasn?t been as great. My... grandmother ordered the sesame chicken and it was chewy and hard. She couldn?t even cut it with her fork or barely chew it. Iordered the fried tofu and it was so bland even with the sauce. The roll I had was pretty good. Just not one of my favoriterolls. This place is a gamble if you don?t order hibachi or sushi. The only thing we really liked was the salad and miso soupthis trip. Read more

We have been here one other time and the food was good so I was so excited to try their tempura vegetables and shrimp but was... very disappointed. The batter was bland with no flavor. The dipping sauce had no taste either. I had others at the table tasteit too and they agreed. We told the server and he said they add water to make the sauce then asked if they had a different sauceor could make the sauce stronger. He brought us a ginger and mustard sauce which didn't go good with tempura but gave it someflavor. My husband liked the miso soup and fried rice but did not like the teriyaki chicken, it was overcooked and tasteburnt. Immediately after we left he had stomach pains for several hours. Read more

We come here about every 3 months and the main reasons are the food and service. The food is always really good and the portions... are a good size for the price. The service has always been top notch and the staff work hard. We had 13 in our party, we havebeen coming on December 26th for our daughter birthday for 19 years. Service was good, maybe a bit less than normal. My wifeordered white rice and the cook gave her fried rice. She let him know she asked for white and he said "no, you ordered whiterice". He didn't take her order to begin with and did give what she again asked for. The only other negative was the fact thatthey now add 20% tip on your bill. We had already tipped the cook in cash and now we have another $50 some dollars added on.That would have been nice to know before we tipped. Still only of the best in Kansas City. Read more

All I can say is this place is absolutely amazing! 110% the best hibachi/sushi restaurant I have ever been too! Tonight was my... second visit and if I could give them 10 stars I definitely would. First off my wife and I were promptly seated despite theplace being busy. All of the staff were courteous, and they all were smiling and had an upbeat and fun personality about them. Our hibachi chef (Chef Norris) definitely brought his A+ game both as a chef and an entertainer. I havent had that much fun atdinner ever. Definitely check to see if he's working and try to get seated at his grill, you'll never regret it! Moving along, the hibachi was top notch! So much flavor and prepared to perfection! Personally I love sushi so I ordered a few differentrolls and....... I am now thoroughly convinced after dining here twice that there isn't better sushi served anywhere else in theMidwest! I sincerely tip my hat to all of the employees and especially Chef Norris for making the experience one to remember andwe will definitely be back again and will recommend Kyoto to everyone we meet! Let?s just put it like this. The chefs here are here to give you a show, have a good time, and make some delicious food! Have... some fun and goof off a little! As my first hibachi experience ever, I had a absolute blast! Steak and shrimp, cooked absolutelyamazingly, not even mentioning the showmanship and skill shown by these guys. Lime green hat and camp hat guys were the two Igot to watch. OH! By the way, weather you are currently the one being served or not, it?s an honest blast just to watch theseguys work. But those two chefs, I hope to be at their table again! Not even mentioning the waiters and servers. Let?s just say,I didn?t have to ask for anything.. like.. what so ever- Portioned well, brought in at perfect times friendly faces and the listgoes on! I?m still stuffed from the amazing selection they had here, and I?m STILL thinking about coming back! Read more
