Decent selection of beers.. server with the british accent was alright.. would be nice if all the servers knew their stuff..
I was told that they were unable to mix drinks? (.5 rum, .5 blue curacao, Sprite) I know they mostly sell beer but they had a... variety of alcohol... Maybe I just didn't understand what they meant? Won't be back, I feel like a bar should have the abilityto mix a drink..... I am a big fan of Indian Cuisine. Tried Mike Place for the first time today ( Beef Curry with Basmati Rice). Found the taste... very poor, the rice was very bad ( hard, felt like it was kept frozen and then they served it after warming up). Quantity waspoor according to the price, so I have to say it's expensive! Also, didn't find the service very impressive but they 'reallyappreciate tips'! Never going back second time. Read more
Best Nacho platter I have ever had. Add chicken to it and it can feed 2-3 people. Their samosas are tasty too.
Mike's place is run by Carleton's graduate student association, and though students from any year are welcome undergrads in the... bar are rare. The bar offers a decent selection of local, craft, and mainstream beers, though prices are fairly high (and hardto find - they aren't printed on the menus). Local cider goes as high as 9$/pint. The bar does offer great food until 10pm,including a wide selection of Indian, vegetarian, and (some) vegan dishes. The food is less expensive than the drinks, and thebar hosts at least one food special a day. Not a particularly large space, and it does fill up for weekly trivia and otherevents. Read more
Good size portion for price. I went here for dinner because almost nothing is open on campus during summer. Glad I did tho... because for $9.50 I got a large plate of chicken masala with basmati rice which I only ate half of, and I was served almostimmediately, so it is very convenient if you're in a hurry. Some tables were taken when I was there at 5pm, but several wereavailable. Tables were clean and staff were friendly and courteous. Will be back. Read more
